Pigeonhed

Has anyone here ever got into Pigeonhed? In particular their 1997 album 'The Full Sentence'? In my opinion, that album is just essential listening for any Prince fan. The whole album has a Prince-like vibe to it, sounding much like Prince did around 1987. In places, even the vocals by Shawn Smith are similar to his. The highlights are 'Battle Flag' which uses a replayed sample of Prince's 'Sexuality', and the title track which is one of the most beautiful songs that I've ever heard.

I was just listening to Pigeonhed's first album like an hour ago! They are, without a doubt, one of my favourite groups. You should check out The Twilight Singers. It's Greg Dulli (formerly of the Afghan Whigs, another amazing band), Harold Chichester (from Howlin' Maggie) and Shawn. They've just got one album so far, and its a beautiful record

Pigeonhed rules. I just lament that Shawn Smith does so many projects that he never tours and we have to wait so long for new music.

Also, their official site never gets updated, alas.
