Who is into Satriani? How you feeling the new album?
Joe did it again, he crafted another great album. If you like metal/rock/fusion guitar you should get him cuz he is like the Jay Z or Nas of that world. Is there love in space is hot. I love the tracks "If I could Fly" and "Searching" http://www.satriani.com (Dang, I posted on two posts on amazing forward thinking guitarists... I better chill)

yeah the new album is great. A bookend to Surfing w/ The Alien. I'm fortunate enough to own a signed copy of his self-titled cd from 95. That one just happens to be my favorite of his as well. Go out & buy the new one, ear candy..

I met Joe Satch in '89 on the Flying In A Blue Dream tour - REALLY lovely, affable guy. He signed my venue poster - I keep meaning 2 get it framed, but it's still rolled up somewhere!
I got turned on2 him around the time of the 'Surfing With The Alien' album way back in 1988 , but 4 me, 'Flying In A Blue Dream' is just sheer genius. There's even that one track on there that's very 'Princey' too: 'STRANGE' Stellar guitar work throughout - especially the gorgeous 'I Believe', and the simply STUNNING 'The Forgotten (Part II)' and the warped electric Cajun vibe of 'Headless'. It's just brilliance all the way through from beginning 2 end. If any of u havent heard this album before, then u can check out samples here: FLYING IN A BLUE DREAM Satch aside, I have 2 say MY fave guitarist of all time just has 2 be the one and only Mr Brian May! I was really into Satch when he first arrived on the scene, and had the pleasure of seeing him perform a couple of times. At the time, as a guitarist myself, I was exploring inspiration as a guitarist but not as a musician. Since then I can honestly say I have not kept up with Satch(I have the first three albums). He is far and I mean by far better a musician then Vai, Malmsteen, Moore, MacAlpine or any of those other selfish guitar masterbating fanatics.

I like Vai better BUT Joe does have a very deep knowledge of music.
He has that ZEN thing where he doesn't play everything he knows but at anytime he could play the most amazing stuff. He has that serene vibe which is kewl. There is a new Satch lesson in the new issue of Guitar World with Eric Clapton on the cover. And be on the lookout for Prince in an upcoming issue of Guitar Player magazine.
