With all due respect to Angie, I don't think the "weave" she's wearing in this photo is better or worse than the afro "wig" she usually sports. Is the wig supposed to be more acceptable because it was kinky/curly, and therefore at least looked more "natural" in some folk's eyes?

Is she "old" or something? Not really, but she ain't no spring chicken either: my friend, you are looking at the one, the only, the ORIGINAL "ANGIE B" who was in the first female rap group SEQUENCE (Was that 1979?) who were the female counterpart to THE SUGAR HILL GANG with the rap hit "FUNK YOU UP" (which Erykah Badu covered with Angie, Queen Latifah and somebody else on her cd WORLDWIDE UNDERGROUND). Now, if I did that song in my elementary school talent show when it came out, and I was like 8 or 9 years old, and she was GROWN when it was released, we can safely say that she is now not of the age where she should be weary sexy, shimmy, mini-dresses with popping boobage just because she dropped a few pounds !

Tina Turner does.....so much agism on this site at times...lawd...if you look good, you look good....i doubt Angie will look like some hoe. and regarding her hair.....and from someone who was the QUEEN of the weave in the earlier 90's, the issue I have is not with having a weave but the type of hair black women buy nowadays. I look at Babs on Makin' the Band....hair just falling out....yet she has that silky yak hair glued to her head.

Man, seems to me that you need couple of relaxing pills to eat. All she did was losing weight, is it a crime to feel good about yoself regarding what age you're gracing? There's no sign of any ass-shakin, mini-dressing, on the stage jumping or any dumb shit like that so why are you being a cynic about it? Damn,,,have a cool drink will ya And I also don't see any of those signs in Kelly Price too, like Angie all she did was lose weight.

Sorry Harlepolis, I only brought up Kelly because a few years ago when she started losing the weight, she performed on an awards show I think it was the Soul Train awards. During the dance sequence she and her backing dancers started stripping down to halter tops for the high energy part of the performance. All I know is she wasn't ready yet. I don't think Angie would do that but, ya know? nobody thought Whitney Houston would do crack.

Legs, pumps and all the way 1st class! I'm glad to see how much weight she's lost. I'm proud of anybody who can do that.

i was reading up on Angie B and I did a double take when I read this:
Subsequent gigs included a spell as saxophone player and backing vocalist with Lenny Kravitz, lead vocalist with soul trio Vertical Hold, and moderate success as a songwriter for Mary J. Blige and SWV. http://www.mtv.com/bands/.../bio.jhtml she plays sax???? I'd love to see a pic of this... "Pedro offers you his protection."

Damn,,,have a cool drink will ya And I also don't see any of those signs in Kelly Price too, like Angie all she did was lose weight. Relaxing pills? Girl, you're funny. I don't even know what to say about THAT one... To begin with, I don't see where the cynicism lies in my previous comment. I was only suggesting, rather lightheartedly, that our girl hopefully won't get too excited about wearing some of the skimpier clothing available out there just because she's lost weight. As a person who works in the "vanity bizness" I've seen many a person all too ready to hop into clothing that they just weren't ready for, just for the sake of being "hip" or "with it" after they've dropped some pounds ; case and point, a friend of mine, an Eastern European pop star, asked me to do some fashion consulting for her last week. Now, that she's lost some pounds, she's absolutely DEAD SET on SQUEEZING herself into low rider jeans from Miss SIXTY and Marc Jacobs, because she's proud of her weight loss accomplishment and wants to be fashionable for the stage and her p.r responsibilities. Now the latter part I applaud her for, naturally. But I also have to say that even though she's lost weight, she's still a THICK, BIG BONED "Botticelli" type sista with a boyish hips, and the low riding jean SIMPLY is not complimentary to her figure. Her stomach, though round and feminine, is not ready for that type of jean because, guess what? It would be hanging over the waist! And that's not a dig at my girl, it's just what it is. She looks great, but some clothing styles she's not ready for. And you wouldn't believe how exausting it was to get this point across while we were shopping for her summer wardrobe! We went through HOURS and HOURS of her trying on stuff that was so not right for her, to the point that I ended up with a migraine and had to have A FEW of those cool drinks you referred to in your earlier comment....in fact, I'M STILL DRINKIN' to recover (because girlfriend wore me OUT) . Let's make something VERY clear here: I'm not at all adverse to patting people on the back when they lose weight and want to let a little skin breathe. I know that when I'm feeling thin I DEFINITELY wear more revealing attire than when I need to burn off my winter fat. I'm just saying don't get too excited and try to bust EVERYTHING out all at once. That's how I am. CONSERVATIVE. RESERVED. I believe in taking things bit by bit, and especially as woman of a certain age.
