That's mostly because he wasn't all up in everyone's faces all the time. The general public thought he had disappeared off the face of the earth. I'll give her that at least: she knows how to deal with the media.

Mike produces the songs he writes himself. Oh and Madonna is one of the best female artists alive. She is so theatrical. She is not a great singer but:

1) Do you like her songs?
2) Can she sing them live?

If you answer both "yes", than thats the point!

And yes im a straight guy too biggrin Anyways im not that much of a fan of her but its a bit silly to call her talentless

Boy do you have that wrong!!! Michael Jackson best work was the results of that incredible brutha Quincy Jones and Rod Templeton. "Mike, produces the songs he writes himself" please!!!

You better buy Thriller and Off The Wall special editions for proof!
In Off the wall you get to hear dont stop and working day&night home demos being payed by him and randy...they are totally the same with the music you here on the original records..Q didnt change noe shit...same for billie jean home demo in thriller special editions! Dont talk before you do your search

We Prince fans love to underrate Mj coz MJ can do what Prince can better plus he can do what nobody else can(except he doesnt play as much instruments as Prince)

I don't buy it, also was it not from Michael's own bio that Quincy wanted Michael to meet Prince to try to motivate MJ to be more creative. Go read your boy's bio..

Some of you seem to think all of Madonna's producers wrote all her words and melodies for her. I know that for the ROL album, William Orbit gave her instrumentals, and Madonna wrote lyrics (WORDS AND MELODY) to them.

ohhhhh but she didn't play all the instruments! Sod off.

clapping that's exactly the point I was trying to make! Writing song lyrics and melodies is all part of the creative process of making music. But there are people who wanna believe that it takes no talent to do that. For the most part,Madonna's lyrics are personal and confessional and they're coming directly from HER,not her producers.

I agree. Madonna has great mastery over pop. She just sucks as a live artists, take away all that bullshit overproduction and you want have much. She is purely a video artist.

Madonna had her moments where she was ON TOP and deserved all the spotlight she got. As time has gone on, her music took a turn and although it aint' bad, it hasnt' caught on as her older albums and tours/concerts did.. In my opinion Madonna will always be Madonna and the name will be known, but she is a bit of a has-been and a bit overrated..

She can't strictly sing, she's got no talent as an actress, her last two abums have been poor (especially the last one), but I wouldn't go so far as to brand her a has-been. Neither would the millions who'll see her on tour this year.

How many "has-beens" can charge up to $300 a ticket and STILL manage to sellout almost every arena? How many "has-beens" can sellout SIX nights at Madison Square Garden in New York? How many "has-beens" are expected to gross over $100 million this summer?

As Matt Lauer said last year..."Madonna will be over when SHE decides she is over" lol

i can't believe peeps are still arguing over this. the woman changed the face of pop music. period. i don't care if you like her or not. you don't even have to like her music to recognize that the role women have in music has dramatically changed thanks to madonna pushing the envelope. i can't name any single woman who has had an effect on the music world in such magnitude...or even on a lesser scale. i'm not madonna's biggest fan. hell, i'm not even going to this tour. but i'm also not blind or deaf. madonna has altered the way the entire world sees women in music. and in her own words, "why don't you just deal with it."

[b]I am a great fan of Madonna, but what I'm about to say has nothing to do with it.
Since that of artist is such a complex concept to translate into words, I say that to answer to the question if Madonna is a true Artist we have to follow our heart.
I mean, do she gives you something when she sings? Then she's an artist.
The main part of female singer nowadays have a voice that critics call Great voice, but what is great voice?
Personally I think that you don't need to have 5 octaves of range to be called a great singer, but you have something to express and make it get to the people.
Music is emotion, music is communication, music is feeling.
Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion Technically have a Greatvoice, but they aren't great singer.
Madonna has got one of the most expressive voices I've ever heard, and she uses it with passion in songs that are bigger than life... This used to be my playground, Rescue me, Something to remember...

Please, follow your heart
