None of the above, that's for damn sure eek

Having said that, I think there are many talented musicians out there, but most are not on the Billboard top 100.

Are we talking just the charts or artists in general? and how new? if we were talking the last ten years or so, my list would look more like:

D'angelo
Jill Scott,
Van Hunt,
Dwele
Meshell Ndegeocello
Donnie
4Hero
Beck

All good choices, the rest of your list I know of but didn't know much about. Tho I think Jill needs to get up and do something already and Donnie simply needs to make his music a bit more stimulating (the colored section was .

I'd also add

Res
jazzanova
Bebel Gilberto
Madlib
MF Doom
Common
OutKast (tho they are not going to be together for long)
The Roots (ditto)
Kanye West
Talib Kweli
Mos Def
Fleming and John (if they'd record)
Nicholas Payton

among others . . .

But if we just Have Eminem, Beyonce, Usher, Chingy, Maroon 5 and ? to choose from,
then I agree with TheFrog: I'd Choose "?"

I forgot to mention D'angelo. Would mention Dwele but we need to hear more from him first. His album is hot though.

I have no problem with Miss Beyonce's singing when she is not oversinging, but her songs are garbage. I couldn't give two pumps and a stroke about her shaking her ass well. I wouldn't want to be most famous for it.

IT AIN'T TOO DIFFERENT FROM HOW TINA T WAS DOING HER THING BACK IN THE DAY. SHE'S MORE AN ENTERTAINER THAN AN ARTIST. COMPARING HER TO WHAT'S OUT THERE TODAY LIKE TO SAY BRITNEY SUCKASS SPEARS, I'D SAY SHE'S HOLDING HER OWN WELL.

I THINK SHE'LL BE AROUND FOR A WHILE.

BUT REALLY, WHAT THE HELL IS A DAMN CHINGY?

Tina was a great singer with an amazing voice and was an all-round incredible performer. Are we going to malign her 40 years in the business now by just writing her off as an "entertainer"? Something similar to Beyonce? I don't know if that can be done.

I like Beyonce, but she's no Tina wink

Now, now, V.C., give Ms. Bottylicious a chance! I would say let's see how she progresses over the next 7 years with her voice and performance techniques before we write her off. Don't forget that Tina had some "low down" moments in her career (immediately post-Ike) when she wasn't in top form, but when she was HOT, boy was she ever and she was able to keep us loving her for all these years! I think if anybody has a shot at making that happen (from all of the r&b crossover girls out there), Beyoncé is the one: I could see her at 30 or 31 really becoming Tina's "heir apparent" ; I could see her being able to go on with this for the long haul. Oddly enough I don' t feel the same way about Brittney Spears though (in terms of her being the heir apparent to Madonna)...something's missing with her, almost as though she's not enough of a "wit" to follow in Madonna's footsteps.
