Funky weekend for Cameo & Morris Day and The Time fans in L.A.

Cameo, Morris Day And The Time Perform On Opening Weekend

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 9, 2004) - Two widely-known rock groups, Cameo and Morris Day and The Time, will usher in a stellar schedule of musical groups set to appear this season at Hollywood Park when they perform on opening weekend of the track's 65-day Spring/Summer race meeting that opens on Wednesday, April 21.

Cameo, a funk-rock group led by Larry Blackmon with a half-dozen albums that have gone gold, will appear in a live concert on Friday night, April 23, immediately following that evening's racing program scheduled to get underway at 7:05 p.m.

Morris Day and The Time, the band created by music sensation Prince and featuring funk singer Morris Day, will appear following Saturday's Citibank California Gold Rush V series of stakes races that is due to begin at 1:20 p.m.

The concerts will take place in Hollywood Park's Music Garden, adjoining the track's paddock area and will be free to the public with a paid admission to the races. Admission packages, including parking and program, can be purchased for $7.

Hollywood Park plans major concerts following each of its 12 Friday night racing programs during the 13-week season as well as additional special events. The lineup of attractions is scheduled to include such notable performers as Arrested Development, The Motels, Don McLean, Sheila E. and Berlin.

On Friday nights, Hollywood Park offers beer, hot dogs and soft drinks for $1 in the Grandstand and Clubhouse.

Don't be bitter...they've been doing this venue for years, and I've missed them all...but NOT this time! And Cameo??? Ah yeah.

You probably don't wanna hear then that Sheila E is playing there too later in the season. I saw her for free at a park near my house so I wasn't too happy! LOL I'll see her though. She's great.
