There's a talking out of your ass aspect about some of the rhetoric within the interview.

Dude's got a good record. He's the new Smokey...excuse me, neo-Smokey. lol Some of you take it to heart, but I think he was pretty on point with his musical references during the interview. Some are offended that he spoke his mind, but remember there are people outside of Prince.org. I thought it was a little odd that Foley didn't ask him about his VERY OBVIOUS SIMILIARITY in vocal style to Smokey, but that's neither here nore there. I wish him the best.

That's Funny, I though the exact thing.
but, for a musician...Foley's inner-view is the best so far.
That's sayin' alot.

Verdict's still out til' the 2nd debut, tho.

Van Hunt
“One of the most incredible musicians I know.” — Alicia Keys
One of the stranger paradoxes of America-the-melting-pot is that few black artists have been able to foray into the realm of pop rock with the matched success of their counterparts. But 27-year-old Dayton, Ohio native, Van Hunt is positioned to break any barriers and silence all naysayers. With his self-titled album, Van Hunt has crafted an intensely melodic journey through the world of pop, rock, funk, and rhythm and blues. Discover the first impressive R&B newcomer of the year, playing his first ever show in the UK.

So, how do they feel about having Sammy Hagar back in the band????

Seriously though, I've never heard of Van Hunt until recently on the Org. Someone give me an idea what his music is like (I'm assuming its a "he" and not the name of a band, so don't flame me. I honestly don't know)? How many albums does he have, and what do y'all recommend starting with? Too many people who's opinions I'm in line with seem to dig him.

VH has one album, and it's self titled.

He has most recently (on the org) been compared to Smokey, Otis, Sly, Marvin and Curtis. Randy Jackson (of AI and Journey fame) was his exec. producer.

VH was a producer/studio-head long before trying his shot at it. He was most notably Rahsaan Patterson's producer on his last 2 albums, "After Hours" and "Love In Stereo."

Like P, he plays keys, strings, and drums. He can work a mean sound board, and he gives a mediocre live set. I have personally labeled him as a studio artist. But that's only my opinion.
Am I leavin' anything out?

oh, yeah, and Wendy played on two of his songs.

Anything else?
