New Lenny Kravitz Album "Baptism" May 18th

Lenny Kravitz will release his highly anticipated 7th studio album Baptism (Virgin Records) on May 18, 2004. The release marks his first new collection of original material since 2001’s Lenny and is being hailed as his most accomplished album to date. Baptism features 13 original songs, including the album’s debut single, “Where Are We Runnin’?”. The track will impact radio on March 29th with a video to be shot in the coming weeks.

Recorded over the course of the last year, Kravitz wrote, produced, arranged and performed all the tracks on the album. He also played the majority of the instruments featured on the release, including bass and drums, in addition to the guitar. On Baptism, Kravitz has created an album that is soulful, yet still resonates with its powerful chords and anthemic hooks and melodies. The end result is a testament to his career as an artist, songwriter and producer.

Said Lenny Kravitz “Baptism marks a musical and spiritual rebirth. That’s what this album is all about.”

In addition to the single, Baptism features such key standout tracks as “Minster Of Rock ‘N Roll,” which Rolling Stone called “a psychedelic, Moog-driven stomper with big –rock swagger,” as well as “Lady” and “California.” The album also features the song “Storm,” which includes a special guest appearance by Jay-Z.
The track listing for Baptism is as follows:

    Minister Of Rock ‘N Roll
    I Don’t Want To Be A Star
    Lady
    Calling All Angels
    California
    Sistamamalover
    Where Are We Runnin’?
    Baptized
    Flash
What Did I Do With My Life?
    Storm
    The Other Side
    Destiny
Here I am, you lucky people!
I know a thing or two about a thing or two!!

There are a lot of people on this site who hate Lenny K, but I for one think he's pretty cool. I've been a fan since his Romeo Blue days and I like his music very much. I'm really looking forward to his new cd and I KNOW it will be better than most of the pop, hip-hop shit that's on the radio these days.

Yea that last CD was really, really bad. I'd like to to see him explore the more soulful\funky side he touched on with "5"

Same here. That last album was really a letdown. I almost don't fell bad that it so badly. It wasn't half as good as "5" but "5" wasn't even as good as "Circus", which I find excellent!

I really like Lenny and I know why so many people hate him but also don't understand why some people worshop the ground he walks on.

I've recently "refound" Lenny Kravitz. I went through a period of thinking he was an arrogant imitator of Zeppelin and Hendrix who had no style of his own, but having recently bought 5 and Lenny (which I don't think is weak at all, just not brilliant), both of which I think are great, particularly 5, I have renewed my interest.

Will be getting this album.

Cause he wrote it with Lisa Bonet....

Little Mary was five years old
Her parents left her, she was out in the cold
Alone to live and find her way
In this great world of heartache and pain

Eyes of brown, matted locks of gold
Her flowered dress is tattered and soiled
Tear stained cheeks, her feet cold and bare
Who could have left a child so rare

Rosemary your day will come
He loved you so He gave His only son
Keep the faith in your soul
Stay down on your knees
I'm beggin you please
Hold onto the beads at your heart

A burning heart and tired eyes
Howling winds for lullabys
No one there to soothe her fright
Nowhere to turn but the inward light
Because life is for believing
That your heart can turn to gold
All you need is Christ to receive it
There's eternal life for every soul

Rosemary your day will come
He loved you so He gave His only son
Keep the faith in your soul
Stay down on your knees
I'm begging you please
Hold onto the beads at your heart

He loves you He needs you He wants you
So don't let Him down
Here I am, you lucky people!
I know a thing or two about a thing or two!!
