Duran Duran UK tour - they are BACK!

Went to the Wembley Arena gig last night and was blown away by them. Havent seen them before (although my wife saw them in '81) but they were great.

They even made the more average tracks (New Moon on Monday, Is there Something I should know?) sound fantastic live. Practically nothing was missed out (although Skin Trade would have been good).

They went back to the Duran Duran album for the obvious - Girls on Film, Planet Earth but also did a rousing Careless Memories with a great new video shown on the video wall behind them (in the style of that Japanese animation - Manga?) Anyway it was the best. The video seemed to be an allegory for the state of the music industry today. Especially liked the Endangered Music Industry bit!

The new stuff sounded good too. Can't wait for the new album if it's up to this standard.

If you have tickets for the rest of the UK tour I'd strongly suggest you hold on to them. You wont be disappointed.

Duran Duran is still a great band... I didn't stop listening to them when Andy and Roger left the band. Even their latest album Pop trash is a great, and really underrated album. Now they're back again with Andy, John and Roger it's getting better and better..BUT..... They must come to HOLLAND!!! i have a recording of one of their shows in japan 2003 and it sounds great!!
Last time i saw them was back in 93, and Simon lost his voice after 1,5 song (1st time in his carreer) so that one was one unique, but short experience.
I'm sure that a lot of people will get their appreciation back for this band after seeing them live..... Coz, who would have thought they still be here in 2004???? 26 years later??? When I was 13 i could only wish for it, and now it is reality!!!
Duran duran is back.....and they still rock!!!!

I went to the first show at Wembley on Tuesday night, really good show all the hits played well etc. There were a few people trying to sell tickets outside but eventually ended up selling them for £5 and even giving them away as I guess most people who wanted to go had got tickets due to all the extra dates announced. Think they are much cheaper now on ebay also. So what I'm trying to say is go if you ever liked any of their hits biggrin
I must have been the youngest in the crowd at 17 though, everyone seemed to be mid 30's. Still I had a cool time!

Ditto on the wall I can't complain cuz at least I was able to see them last year when they played in SF. Some fans commented on how it would have been cool if certain hits (The Reflex) and instrumentals (Tiger Tiger) were included. Let's keep good thoughts for a possible Fall tour.

I'm pretty sure that song is one of their staples that they must play, or the fans won't let them leave a venue with their lives.

Actually, over at the Duran board a while back, some fans were having a discussion about this. It's kinda like Purple Rain. Most of us have heard this soooo many times live that we'd like them to make room for other songs that we haven't heard as much. They do have other great ballads, like Do You Believe in Shame, Palomino, Someone Else Not Me...

Personally, I've heard Save A Prayer and Ordinary World enough times live. Songs I have never heard live that I would LOVE to hear are Liberty and My Antarctica.

They did Secret Oktobur when I saw them on the Medazzaland tour. It was AWESOME! Who Do You ThinK You Are is a great pick, I'm not sure if they've done that live. They did Be My Icon on that tour as well. Great stuff.

I second that about Secret Oktober. It was a suprise to hear that song, and not alot of fans around me knew the lyrics. I would love to hear "Out of my Mind" from The Saint soundtrack. I don't remember if that was part of the Meddazaland tour. I don't remember much except for Secret Oktober, which is weird.

I really have to get more bootlegs. I was a Duran fan before I was a Prince fan. From 86-91, all I did was trade video and audio with Duran pen pals.

I Believe/All I Need to Know...
