I believe Stevie's version was 1967, although it was never a hit...


Actually, even though he recorded it in 1967, I don't think it was actually released until 1977 when Motown put out the Vinyl "Anthology"...not unless it turned up as a b- side at some point in the late 60's...

Stevie's version is on the box set that came out a few years ago. I don't know exactly what year it was released though but I'm betting it was recorded in the late 60's.

I'm not sure exactly, my guess would be sometime in the late '60s. I had it downloaded on my old computer, but there was no date or anything.

That's exactly what I was thinking!


Yeah, Aretha's is the Definitive version ( Incidentally, that's Donny Hathaway on electric piano on her version...)
