Isn't amazing how they went from "I Can't Quit Her" with Al Kooper to a real jazz-rock band with David Clayton-Thomas?

God Bless The Child (2nd album)
Lucretia Mac Evil (Blood, Sweat & Tears 3) Good one manki thumbs up!
Go Down Gamblin' (Blood, Sweat & Tears 4)
Snow Queen & Maiden Voyage (New Blood) This album is hard to find.

Mike Stern, Jaco Pastorius, Steve Kahn, Roy McCurdy, Larry Willis and Barry Finnerty all passed through this band at some point.

I Loved the 2nd album" Blood, Sweat and Tears": Spinning Wheel, You Make Me So Very Happy, Laura Nyro's "And When I Die", and I love their arrangement of "God Bless The Child"...

Actually this is some of the first music I remember hearing as a child in the late 60's /early seventies...My parents were always Playing Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, Gil Evans, The Free Design, Rotary Connection, Aaron Copland, Marvin Gaye, Three Dog Night, Stevie Wonder, Aretha, Curtis Mayfield, Buddy Miles... and of course Blood , Sweat and Tears - they used to love the band's horn arrangements...and I got to take all of that in...

Trivia note: You Made Me So Very Happy was originally a Brenda Holloway cut over at Motown in the early 60's (but released later). It was cowritten by Brenda and her sister Patrice (another forgotten Motown chanteuse), along with Berry Gordy and Frank Wilson. She had one of the best voices at Motown and her sultry version of this song is IMHO better than the BS&T version. If you like the song, check it out wink

Not too long ago I picked up "The Best Of Buddy Miles".
The cover is identical to the Them Changes record (American flag drums)
This is pretty much a comp of his 1st 5 solo records:
Expressway To Your Skull (produced by Jimi Hendrix)
Electric Church (produced by Jimi Hendrix)
We've Got to Live Together
Them Changes
A Message to the People

This is some Rockin' R&B for your money.

The 1st 2 albums featured former Mitch Ryder guitarist Jim McCarty.
This is the guy that played on all those great Detroit Wheels hits:
Shake a Tail Feather
Jenny Take a Ride
Devil With a Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss
Sock It to Me, Baby

Some real good stuff.

Ndeed! Them Changes is actually still available as an import cd . Expressway To your Skull was available a few years ago, but it may be out of print now...

I used to have Expressway To your Skull and Electric Church on vinyl but either lost or had them "walk off" over the years. sad

Btw, I was just listening to Paligap off of South Saturn Delta on the way to work this morning.
(I DO still have my vinyl copy of The Cry of Love cool )

Man, I love that track!(obviously)...I always thought that it was almost symphonic --the way Hendrix multi-tracked the guitars....
