No offense, but I think it's silly to add Michael Jackson to this list.Yes,he has written some great pop songs, but I don't see him as this amazing lyricist. Most of the songs he has written are "poppy" and fun,but not really profound ("Billie Jean" is a notable exception).

Bullsh*t. I don't think songs like Stranger In Moscow, Who Is It and Will You Be There are "poppy and fun". Even if all of his songs were "poppy and fun" (which they aren't) why would he be excluded? You don't have to write "profound" material to be a great songwriter. The Way You Make Me Feel is "poppy and fun", but is it not a great song? There are people on these lists who have never wrote a "profound" song in there life.

They definitely deserve a mention. I'm also going to add Johnny Rzeznik to the list. ("Black Balloon", "Slide", "Iris", "Naked", "Broadway"...) [This message was edited Sun Apr 18 14:27:49 2004 by theVelvetRoper]
