Female Rappers?????? just being nosey who do you feel are some of the Top and/or most underrated Female MC's in the hip hop game?underrated in my opinion ....Jean Grae,Bahamadia,Medusa,Apani B.Fly Emcee,Heather B.,The Lady of Rage,Mystic,Remy Martin,Lady luck,Lady May,and does anybody know whatever happened to Ice Cube protege Yo-Yo? met her back in 93 she was such a sweetheart. I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.

Either im really behind on my music or these are some old school rappers, i remember salt n pepper and mc lyte but the others just went straight over
anyway...I used to love Missy, when i heard supadupafly i thought she was so quirky and i love that about some rapers when they come out with things you just wouldnt imagine to sound cool to a beat, now i think she overrated, after da real world everything just went down, shes released so much stuff, she should cut down the last three albums to one cd. i just look forward to the videos now. No one else has mentioned her yet but I used to be into Foxy Brown, ill na na and chyna white just hit me at that time i was just geting into hip hop, i cant listen to either albums now which i guess shows a lot but i remember at the time feeling them. I think Lil' kim is over rated, i got Hardcore and the first few listens i thought she was great but after a while the whole thing is a bit repetitive, i had a quick listen to the last album and i really didnt see why it was getting all the praise it seemed to be getting. I think Eve is pretty good but her albums are kinda predictable aswell everything sounds so glossy, theres no quirky, edgy or raw tracks IMO

I don't know a LOT of the ones mentioned but I always thought Lyte had CRAZY skills on the mic & I wish her career (not that it's over, but you know) had lasted longer & gone further. Her delivery is just irresistable...

I just got Queen Latifah’s “All Hail The Queen” and while I pretty much bought it for a few songs and she was good in her day. Kind of goes without saying though.
Whatever happened to her?? I’m kind of suprprised that she pretty much stopped releasing albums but I guess it paid. BTW, I thought Queen Latifah’s “Ladies First” was a different song that had this chorus that repeated “ooo, the ladies first...” or is that a different song?

I gotta go with MC Lyte as the most underrated of the female rappers, and Lil Kim as the most overrated.

yeah most of the women mentioned in my original post are,like serious hip hop...comparing Bahamadia to Lil'kim is like comparing Jill Scott to Beyonce,there is just no comparison....even Lyte and Latifah are commercial far beyond compare not to take anything away from them,they are none the less pioneers,yo The realfiness I bet Icy Blu and take your Betty Boo in a strongwoman contest...LOL,as far as Missy she makes good club bangers but she is hardly a superb lyricist IMO. I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.

Roxanne Shanté: "I gave birth to most of them MC's"
~~~from Roxanne Shante "Big Mama" [1992] ~~~ First up there's Latifah You roll up, and I'ma smoke that ass like reefer Cause you ain't never in life been a star to me Sold the fuck out tryin to go R&B Now that shit is shady You say ladies first, well I'm the first lady And all y'all hoes are phoney Try to get flippid, I'ma rip you and your girl Monie You're illegitimate, tryin to get a little bit And I'm about sick of that 'Monie-in-the-middle'-shit Your album cold garbage Had one good jam, now you think you a star, bitch Breakin your neck tryin to be in the limelight But give you a mic, and you can't even rhyme right Shanté is a rebel You say you're lyte as a rock, you get crushed like a pebble One word, and I'ma bag her Watch the bitch stagger, cause I don't dig the bulldagger To me a wush don't deserve a mic in hand Somebody tell her to stop actin like a man She needs somethin real thick to help her out quick (What?) And that's a good piece of dick Now as for that West Coast slut With fake-ass hair, contacts, and a patted butt Instead of stompin to the 90's, use your brain And stomp your ass down to Jack Lelane You better hurry and hop on a diet plan And keep the pork chops out the fryin pan Yeah, I said it, so what? You roll up, slut, you get a fuckin gumbut to your gut I'm bringin tears to all my peers I ain't new, I been doin this shit for 10 years Bring any hoe, and I wreck her I rip the nicest, from Isis down to Salt-N-Pepa And now you know that I'm the star of the show, hoe While I get dough, you're givin up the yo-yo You say a nigga can't play with it You got another job? Well bitch, you better stay with it
YO-YO "You better ask somebody" 1993 and we ain't even gonna go in to MC Lyte's rebutle....FIRE!!!!! featuring Blasmaster KRS...she did a whole joint off a hook from a earlier song,that dissed Shante...."Roxanne Shante is only good for steady f**king" now that was comedy..... I like Roxanne Shante for who she was and is in hip hop history,but for her to come out like that,at a time when a lot of the ladies were still trying to get in the door,and gain respect....was kind of raw. it made for good battle on wax...though anyone remember Roxanne Shante vs- J.J.Fad vs-Oaktown's 3.5.7 vs- Sugga & Spice, poor J.J.Fad all them chicks hatin LOL..... I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
Yea, the only wack thing about the song is who's delivering it She couldn't hold a candle to Lyte... Somebody mentioned Nikki D, she had a good flow too. I liked Foxy Brown & Lil' Kim a lot but Foxy started sounding exactly like Kim & both of them need to find more to talk about than clothes, cars, $ & dick. Get some mo shit in ya world girl!
yeah Shante wasn't really liked by many people,I never had a problem with her I though she was always kind of like the foulmouthed lil girl next door...Nefertiti is one of LA's premiere underground females MC's who was highly underrated in the early and mid 90's,she had some nice production fron Guru even had Lyte on a hook for her album....Nikki D.,was ill she was featured on "Name Callin" with Queen La,The Lady of Rage was nice other then Korrupt probably one of the best lyricists to come out of the Death Row camp...she ryhmed better then wack ass crackhead Snoop.if I have to recomend 2 songs right now from Ladies out that are somewhat current they would be "Hater's Anthem"from Jean Grae,and "Unfuckwitable" from The lady of Rage,if you are into lyric's and pure spitfire...these to ladies bring it something FIERCE!!!!!
MOST OF U CUPCAKES ARE SOFT, THATS WHY I SERVE U LIKE A BAKE OFF, I RIP YA FACE OFF LIKE NICHOLAS CAGE, U WANNA FACE OFF,THATS RIDICULOUS, IM RAGE..... I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
