Heeeey,,I Didn't Knew That Cyndi Lauper Released A New Album?

Does it suck big time that nobody wants to mention in it up in here?

Its really nice 2 see her again, just saw her corny YET cute movie "Vibes" in some network couple o' days ago.

Anybody have this album? What is it like?

I think this WAS actually mentioned briefly at the time of release, but not much fanfare overall.

I have all of her albums but decided to pass on this one. I previewed it and just didn't think her voice meshed well with the material. Other fans have loved it, though, so I think it's one of those "listen-for-yourself" records. Personally, I found it mediocre at best.

Her albums have always been medicore so why should be this any different? Then again, I kinda expected that becoz I really don't see any mentions about it in TV/Radio.

I just found out 2day while coming from work, go figure!

It was released on Epic, which is a major label. In fact, her heyday was spent on another Sony subset CBS (I think) so it was kind of a return for her. There is also talk of her rleasing a new album, possibly the full "Shine" album, which was a pretty big EP on a small label. I think there was a video for "Stay" (porably got not paly and she did perform on Lettermen. There may have been a few commericals on smaller channels here and I think it debuted at something like 37. However, there realy wasn't much of a push for it. I heard a few samples and wasn't very imprssed so I passed as well.

there were three threads discussing how good the album was upon its first release....it got really good reviews across the board....dont know about the sales...

hey harlepolis, i find it her most consistent album to date.....its a very hushed album...all tracks are "re-inventions" of old standards ...not many upbeat tracks which most lauper fans might find a bummer..but i really really enjoy her vocal performances.....her versions of "until you come back to me" and "walk on by" are awesome...she slows the rythm of the songs down which allows her to really "act" out the tunes....

sheila e co-arranged "stay" and plays percussions on a couple other tracks..the sheila tracks are featured on my:

Yeah, I noticed Sheila E's name in the credit list from allmusic.com

Its really nice to hear that she get to be involved more in the production/arrangment credit rather than ending up in some album as a "session musician" she deserves more than that nod
