I was watching the bestshow ever, "Law and Order SVU" and in a really complicated story, it is revealed that a group of black guys have these gay sex parties where they have sex with each other and other guys. Only "SVU" can get away with stories like these. Anyway, one of the dectectives, Ice-T (who is amazing on this show), actually schools the white dectectives on these things. He tells them that it's called "The Down Low". It's kind of funny because at the end of telling the story they look at him and he goes "Hey, I just know stuff".

Now I'm white and straight and have never heard of this but the title sounded very familar. It's a huge R. Kelly song. I always thought that "Down Low" was a more simple thing than that. Just keep it secret. I didn't know it had anything to do with black gay sex parites. Did anyone else this episode of "Law And Order" and think the same thing or did they just make that up.

And I only started this conversation in the music thread since it relates to the possible meaning of an R. Kelly song but you can move it if you like.

R kelly was talking about keeping a relationship on the DL....DL simply means 'secret'.

the key word here is generally, meaning that there is some room for leeway. R kelly has a history of having sexual relationships with girls who are about 14/15 years old and it would not surprise me if a psychologist would label him a non-exculsive pedophile.
