Kate Bush fans, we r saved ! Ever heard of Akiko Yano ?

Like me, u r a Kate Bush fan & u just can't stand the fact that she stopped recording music ?

Well, i recently discovered a japanese singer names Akiko Yano on Soulseek, she began her career in 1976 & released around 20 albums since then, & u'd b surprised of how much her music (particularly from the 1st decade) sounds like Kate. Considering she released her 1st record b4 Kate, u could even think she was an influence 2 her.

I've downloaded around 10 albums from Akiko & i just can't get tired of it, the girl is a genius !

Anyone here knows her ?

I picked up one of her CD's a loooong time ago (Ok, I got it cuz she looks good on the cover, and I'm a sucker for good looking asian girls - especially Japanese ones). It's a US release self titled from 1990. It turned out the music as really good, and a great voice also. Yes, reminescent of Kate, I'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes that type of music. As for the other 19 CD's, I try really hard not to download official us releases from any of the sharing services, but imports are fair game for me, I may try to track more down....

And word has it that Kate is "nearing completion of a new album"

oh, kate!!! my beloved kate. i would so love to hear another album of hers. guys & gals, you should all check out emily bezar if you love kate bush or tori amos. she is phenomenal & i know you would all love her work. bezar is more of a classical musician who fuses classical with pop rather than just a pop musician but her music is awfully pretty. please be sure to check her out at www.emilybezar.com i, too, will have to check out akiko yano.

I love Akiko Yano's work!! (and her [ex?] husband, Ryuichi Sakamoto).

My favorite albums of hers are Welcome Back, Love Life, and Elephant Hotel
I have a vhs of her performing live (from around '93, I think), and she is amazing! I hope she come to the US, I'd love to see her in concert!
