Who is the biggest Superstar in Music Past/Present?

And by superstar I am not talking about who you think is Talented, Or who you think is Personally overrated. But just burst on to the seen and stayed there, and impacted Music.

Probably Beethoven or Mozart.

If you are talking about this century, I'd say The Beatles, for sure. There are still rabid Beatles fans everywhere. I don't think they were that overrated either.

As far as overrated, I'd say Elvis. He was mainly popular because he was a good looking white guy in the 50s, doing R&B type music and acting kinda sexy. He did have some talent, but not that much.

I should have started this by saying no Elvis bashing....He was called the KING for a reason. The most electrifying man on the stage. He took a genera of music and shared it with the world. And unfortunately (not a fan)I think that MJ did the same.

I actually have to say Eric Clapton ....

i am not a big fan .... but i admire the man for the number of different groups of people he has worked with .... derek and the dominoes , etc ... bb king ....

I always think about his "unplugged" album and how it affected soooo many other groups .... and was like Clapton's third coming ....

like i said , i am not a huge clapton fan , dont even own an album by him ... but i think he is extremely BIG as far as music superstar ...

If you think about it, without Little Richard there'd be no Prince (as we know him).

Without Little Richard, there'd be no Michael Jackson (as we know him).

He gave Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles their first break.

David Bowie started out determined to be Little Richard's sax player. When he was turned down, he fell back on his voice and became a megastar.

Without David Bowie, there'd be no Madonna (as we know her). So arguably, without Little Richard turning down Bowie, would we have gotten Madonna?

So. I'm just sayin'. Little Richard is the energy source that lit everyone we think of as a superstar.

This is my bold and audacious statement of the week. Thank you all very much. Let the beatings begin.

Yet without "whoever" there would be no Little Richard. If we really tried we could trace things to way before Little Richard.

That's most likely out of the realm of the thread's subject...
