Here's an idea: don't post on a thread if you aren't interested in discussing an artist with respect for your fellow orgers.

Whatever you say, bud. This forum rarely gets as heated as the "Music: Prince" one does.

i just understand why its considered hating when yo dislike an album? i posted how much i loved Son Of A Gun when it first came out..I gushed and gushed and gushed....and now because people really dislike the quality of this album, its hating? hmm

i dont get it.....its all an opinion anyways. shrug

No, specifically posting "all the one star reviews of Damita Jo from amazon.com" is hating. Wonder what kind of reaction you'd get if you did that with a Prince album in the Prince forum. Saying you hate the album isn't.

True story:

The other day I was talking to somebody about this God-forsaken website! lol During the conversation I was telling him about the die-hard Janet fans on here and the excessive threads about her in this forum. Blah, blah, blah, and then I was telling him about how the Janheads are generally nice, well-spoken, and mature and level-headed when people start to bash Janet.

You guys might be involved in a lot of drama when I'm not on this site, but for the most part, you are all a bunch of cool kiddies! wink I know it gets frustrating sometimes cuz y'all love JDJ, but just let it ride. You all stick together a lot closer than Prince fans, that's for damned sure. thumbs up!

P.S. Hell, naw I ain't no Janet fan shake
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

i wasn't saying that having an opinion was hating. my comment was made in regard to the people who try to instigate and incite arguements. finding every janet thread and posting a nasty comment on it is certainly argumentative. if you don't like the woman or her music, don't throw yourself into the mix. i don't see anything outrageous about any of janfan4l's points.

it is all a matter of opinion and i love to talk to other peeps with differing opinions and bullshit about things. the problem comes into play when someone simply wants to irk someone else. there's not too many of them here but they do exist and can be counted on for trying to instigate.

Black women suffer from high rates of depression, substance abuse and binge eating disorder, including Janet, because of the "strong black woman" mythology. We believe that its our lot in life just to "handle" everything that comes our way. Black women are strong but we are not indestructible.

This is bullshit.

Look, y'all.

The Janet fans on this site have (JANFAN4:, VelvetRoper, VoicesCarry, et al.) are good people with great spirits and a passion for their apparent favorite artist. Nothing wrong with that.

Yet and still . . . there have been a LOT of Janet threads lately. The backlash is somewhat inevitable. Your opinions on Ms. Jackson are well known and well stated. When it comes to "Damita Jo," sometimes methinks thou doth protest too much to the criticism. Some of it has been unfair, but if you keep putting threads up here, you may simply be fueling more backlash. You're not gonna change any minds of Janet haters. So why don't we move on. Or at least, chill out on the threads for a minute. Let's talk about Madlib, Boz Skaggs, Menudo, Sun Ra, ANYTHING else, until all this Jan-hate cools down.

Prince fans criticize Prince on P Org a lot, on the other side velvet roper and janfan4 have their head *** in Janet **** all the time, even if the last album is complete garbage ( like Prince's NPS imo) they would rate it 5 stars edit: I didn't invent the Amazon negative reviews , it was interesting to read the othe side of the story..

Shhh***tt, I love seeing ANY black woman make it (be it academically, economically, artistically, etc.) -- especially in a crooked society like this.

I understand and feel the same way about black women succeeding, but not only has Janet made it, she's sliced it, served it, frozen it, and made leftovers with it. The issue here is whether she has been unfairly scrutinized for her Super Bowl incident. Tho I think she was stupid for trying it, the answer is yes. Madonna would never have caught the same heat.

But I thought we were talking about Damita Jo.

JANFAN4L

OK, my final final thoughts on the Janet wars.

MY closing statements: (You can shake all the salt you want after this, I will just ignore it and move on to other business.)

#1: I have NO idea when and where this war began or how it popped off, but it started long ago. Some are holding some deep seeded animosities against me personally that have been brewing long before the Nipplegate situation. I don't know when it did, but it did. The new album and the half time show were just vehicles for some of you to dis on me. That speaks about your "hateration." I don't know how it escalated, but it has. I never instigated it. It just happened. Yet, I'm not gonna sit back like a b**ch and be dissed without getting some words in.

#2: I'm never the kind of person to force someone to like my favorite artists; nor am I the individual that will call someone a "hater" if they don't like my musical selections. I don't know who told you that lie, but you've been grossly misinformed. However, I will call you a "hater" or say there's "hateration" at play, if you're gonna take a pot shots at me simply because my name is "JANFAN4L (<--every day, all day, baby)" -- now that's puerile.

#3: Most of this sh*t was fueled by some salt shakers. I've been killed the drama on my end longgg ago with the "JANFAN4L's review of "Damita Jo" thread. Basically, all the other tangents and residuals are on y'all and I have nothing to do with it.

#4: I've been moved on. Y'all are keeping it going.

::steps away from the thread, unrolls sleeves, and adjusts collar::

Clarification, edit.
