favorite smokey songs -an appreication william "smokey' robison has been making great songs since he began in 1958.
he's in my hall of fame-and one of my fave tenor/falsettos EVER. like another fave of mine the late great curtis mayfield-smokey's written countless songs for himself and other artists (i'll get to curtis another day..) here's some smokey faves (some of which he penned for others) contours-when i needed you bobby taylor & the vancouvers-malinda (superb) mary wells-you beat me to the punch...the one who really loves you.. two lovers..my guy-what love has brought together temptations-a love i can see...paradise...the way you do the things you do... get ready...its growing...my girl...since i lost my baby...you've got to earn it marvelettes-the hunter gets captured by the game...don't mess with bill supremes-breathtaking guy smokey solo....virgin man,being with you (so smooth,so good) cruisin'.. and some miracles gems...swept for you...fork in the road...tracks of my tears...choosy beggar...whats so good about goodbye...i'll try something new...i need a change....if your mother only knew...baby baby don't cry... happy landing...i've got to dance to keep from crying...i had to cry... way over there... just the tip of the iceberg for smokey... youngca | |
