Bjork to direct "Bird's Milk"

from bjork.com:

It was just a matter of time until this step would be taken. MeesterFly always predicted this in private conversation, it was inevitable after the unique history of her epic videos. Now it is time for Björk to sit into the directors chair and say: "...and Action"

This coming May shooting will start of Bird's Milk, a short movie adapted from the acclaimed book Skugga-Baldur by Sjón. The adaptation is done by Sjón, Björk's long time collaborator and Academy Awards nominee for his part in Dancer in the Dark.

Bird's Milk is the story of a girl in late 19th century in Iceland, whose life is somewhat dramatic. Sjón says that "the movie will be a small epic saga of old Iceland, before we jumped out of the mud huts, skipped the industrial revolution and into the 20th century. Parts of it are very grotesque, and I guess that is what fascinated the upcoming director."

The upcoming director agrees, and adds "this movie will turn upside down people's romantic ideas about the Iceland that was!"

The shooting will take place in Engey and Viðey, two islands just off the coast of Reykjavik. The cast will look familiar as the main character will be Ingvar S, who showed his brilliance in the Pluto video. The main female character will be Didda, who recently starred in Stormy Weather.

Casting for group scenes are being carried out in the next few weeks, as they are still looking for characters/actors with foreign accent as the movie is shot in Icelandic. If someone out there is interested they can email movie@bjork.com to ask for a prospectus for what is needed. You must be ready to travel in April, be accustomed to cold climate and hardship. Hold a valid passport, not be scared of heights as they need to fly to Iceland.

"I see that this movie will be a bit different to everything I have done, but I guess I just have to try sitting in that directors chair and say action!" says the director.

Well so say all of us.

I can't wait for her new album! I really don't want to buy another live/alternate version of existing songs.

BAH! It was an April Fools joke! pout

www.bjork.com

We did a bit of April Fools Running yesterday! There is a Bird's Milk, it is not a movie yet. It is a book by Sjón. The making of it as a movie next month was April Fools.
There will be a cover for the next album, but that was not it. We do not know what it will be like!

We thank you for your participation! Until next time, keep on smile
