The first records I got were 45s. My Mom would buy them and always let me pick one.
I'm looking through a box of them she sent me now.

Rolling Stones (7)
Beatles (4 incl I Want To Hold Your Hand)
Beach Boys (2)
Sam&Dave (Hold On I'm Comin')
The Who (Pictures of Lily)
The Yardbirds (Shapes of Things)
The Zombies (She's Not Thee)
The Vagrants (Respect)
The Mandala (Canadian soul group. If anyone has "Opportunity" we must talk.)
The Champs (Tequila)
Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs (Wolly Bully)
Mongo Santamaria (Watermelon Man)

The first album I bought?:
"We bout to get deep y'all"

"Time is on my side...yes it is."

peace Tribal Disorder
"Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Okay. Somebody is going to scream. The first albums I ever purchased is thanks to my aunt and her belief in hefty allowances. Please try not to insult me too much, I was 11.

1. Prince - Purple Rain
2. Madonna - Like a Virgin
3. Duran Duran - Don't remember the album title but it had Reflex on it
4. Cyndi Lauper - Girls just want to have Fun
5. David Bowie - Lets Dance

The first album I bought was taht "Cooleyhighharmony" by Boyz II Men in 7th grade. Then I went thru a spell where I didn't really listen to much and when I came back to pop music I got back into it with "The Downward Spiral" by Nine Inch Nails.

OH MY GOD! I had that when I was a baby, too! biggrin

And I remember on the inside of the sleeve, it had a picture of "Clementine" (was that her name?" - the "female Goofy".
