What songs should my band cover? I'm in a band and we're building up our reportoire for some upcoming gigs. We have about 20 songs on the list, but are constantly searching for more. We have two guitars, drums, keys and bass. I'll be singing probably 80% of the songs and have pretty good range (if you want to hear my voice go to my Soundclick page and listen to my songs - that MAY give you a better idea of song choice/style). Around here the bands that can get the folks dancing are the ones that get paid the most/most gigs. Here's some of the songs we're doing: Kiss, Darling Nikki (Prince), Harder to Breathe (M5), Don't Do Me Like That (TPetty), Boogie Shoes, Superfreak, Brick House, Tainted Love, Wishing Well (TTD), What I like About You, Maneater, Just What I needed, Stacey's Mom, etc. (you get the idea). I like 80's songs and we need to keep it danceable and funky. I guess we should do a couple of slow jams, too. What does everyone suggest? Thanks! OK - I'll help!
Anything by The Smiths - adds a bit of credibility to any set! Anything EWF-y would go down well probably. Cheese - Loco in Acapulco? Carib. Queen? And a great slow one - Billy Paul – Me & Mrs Jones - you gotta love belting that out. | |
