SENSHY

I felt it was "organic" and warm sounding. I knew it was an instant classic ..and that Ex-Factor killed me I had to keep replaying it just for the endiung coda care for me care for me chants. The whole cd was more than what I thought I was purchasing.
Oh my, oh my.

i remember wondering why there was so much hype. I love her voice, and there are some great tracks, but overall I thought some of the material was very weak.

I liked it for the most part. But I found some of it hard to grasp (I was thirteen at the time).

As of today, I think it's a fantastic album. One that can make me cry, bob my head, reflect and learn.

I thought then, and still think now, that it is very overrated. It is maybe half of a great record. When you compare it to much of it's current competition it sounds like a masterpiece. I think that is because, in general, nobody makes great albums anymore. Some of it I love but I think it got way too much hype. The obvious question is if she is such a great artist where is the follow up? Too much pressure maybe?

I was mainly bored. Good music, but it never touched me. It was still over-produced for something that was seen as ground-breaking at the time - might sound like a bold statement, but I just didn't feel like it took any real risks at all. A lot of people seemed to like it, and that's fine.

Everytime somebody pisses me off, I run to this album and play 'Forgive Them Father'.

I know its not necessarily about specific people in life letting you down, but I just loving singing the bit where it breaks down to just bass and beats, then she sings:

Like Cain and Abel,
Caesar and Brutus,
Jesus and Judas,
Backstabbers do this!

I can hear it in my head now. Every inflection. In stereo.

I knew Lauryn could sing from Fugees but i didnt realy realise that she could write that well untill i heard this album and i was pleasently suprised, i still listen to miseducation now and it doesn't sound tired at all.
But, I don't think there was any real risks with this album though, it was too predictable but then again nieither does most of todays rnb/urban music.

Her locs were SO beautiful, I was mad when she cut them lol

I remember my boyfriend @ the time kept saying, "that girl from the Fugees NEEDS to go solo, she'd kill it." I was like okay, that's nice... eek How right was he?! I loved this album, still do. It just sounded so fresh to my ear - familiar in ways but new in that it was from coming from someone around my age yet had such depth. One real eye opener to me was "Zion" - such a beautiful song. Made me look @ that whole career/family balance differently (b/c I sure would have been one of the "don't do it now" folks) & have more respect for the power & commitment of motherhood. How corny is that? lol But it's true...

I absolutely love this album and I do not think it was over-hyped at all. It deserved all the praise it got

Wow, flesh back! lol

I never liked the Fugees with the exception of remaking Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly". Then I heard That Thing. Bliss. The Miseducation is a cd I place with Angie Stone's BLack Diamond, Janet'sd Rhythm Nation, Gerorge Michael's Listen without Prejudice - albums that have a voice, emotion, groove, and identifiable themes. In other words, their classics in their own right.

Did any of you see Lauryn on tour ? I saw her in July 1999,a few months after she swept the Grammys. It was an amazing performance. She came out singing "Ex-Factor",and Carlos Santana made a surprise appearance during "To Zion".I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

What about Remy Shand? That cat woke you up, didn't he? lol

Just playin' wink

Yea Remy did wake me up cause the cat actually had real drums, bass and other shit on his album. Lauren's album was one of the hip-hop/r&b fusion records that lead the way in killing the real deal. I have very strong feelings about this album and none of them are positive
