March 31, 2004 -- THERE are no ifs, ands or buts about it - Janet Jackson (above) is engaged to Jermaine Dupri. Insiders in Jackson's camp confirmed the engagement Monday night at the party at Spice Market for the release of Janet's latest album, "Damita Jo." Jackson arrived in a white Helen Yarmak fur wearing a 20-carat yellow diamond engagement ring surrounded by white diamonds by Alan Friedman. The lovebirds are expected to wed secretly this summer. Jackson is good at keeping secrets. Her marriages to El DeBarge and Rene Elizondo were only exposed after she divorced them. A rep said: "I can't talk about this."

What was funny was her desperately scratching her left shoulder and showing off the ring, while Letterman obliviously grilled her about the Super Bowl incident. I asked my TV (as I'm wont to do): "Janet's trying to change the subject to that ring, Letterman! How long are you gonna make her fidget with that left hand before you ask her about it?"


"And, another thing about that incident," Letterman prattled on, "It sure looked deliberate..."

And the music is good! I'm a little bit surprised that she didn't do any music with JD. The album is good but Jermaine might have added a few good tracks too. Then again, you know if any of his stuff wasn't any good, people would hate him!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I've never liked any of JD's stuff before Usher's Confessions. He could've done some great stuff with Janet.

You know, when I first heard that Janet was with Jermaine Duprie, I was like WTF??? SHe can do waaay better. But after reading all the good things that she had to say about him in Ebony magazine, it's obvious that she is extremelely (sp) happy. She said that he is the first boyfriend that her whole family loves. Good for her! I wish them both the best.

( I just hope that any offspring that they have look like HER.)

And, most important, JD has his own money...
