Do a bit of research on what Lennon said about a lot of those songs. He called a lot of what I considered really cool songs 'throwaways', 'total shit,' or 'garbage.' For example, he panned 'and your bird can sing,' 'Mr. Kite,' and a lot of Paul's shit. I don't know if this was all from the 1980 Playboy interview or not. John and George were not very happy with Paul for quite a while after the breakup. Just take a listen to John's scathing 'How Do you Sleep?'

Lennon was the genius of the group, at least lyrically. If you don't believe me recite the lyrics to McCartney's 'Let 'em In.'

You're reaching. Why not find a better BEATLES song as an example instead of an arbitrary McCartney solo lyric? Hell, as great as "Come Together" is, it's mumbo jumbo lyrically. And let's not get into "I Am The Walrus"...goo goo ga joob.

Nothing Lennon did on his own measured up to the Beatles standards either. They needed each other to do what they did. The whole was greater than the sum of the parts...and all that...

Hey, at least he had the common sense to have a pen handy while he was tripping! Hahaha! I didn't mean that EVERY Lennon song was lyrically profound and that every McCartney song wasn't cuz that's just not the case.

er

Sgt. Peppers is great but if the Beach Boys 'Smile' was released (which was supposed to be out 2 months prior to 'Pepper's'), it would've lessened the impact of the Beatles Masterpiece. Pepper's kicks but 'Smile' is the best. ('Smile' is set to be released this fall... check it out)

Hey, did you read what I wrote beneath the title? Do you think it is the best album the Beatles ever did? All I am saying is that in relation to Rubber Soul, Revolver, The Beatles and Abbey Road I don't think Sgt. Pepper's is as good. I only called it garbage to get people's attention.
