Man, Zappa put out this parody Doo Wop album entittled Cruising with Rueben and the Jets, it's some of the best stuff I've heard from the genre though the lyrics are very humouress, it's very accessible.

When I was a kid back in Bklyn, from my bedroom window I could hear the juke box from the local pizza place.
I would fall asleep at night listening to some of these tunes. VC already named my favorite. I Only Have Eyes for You - The Flamingos (all time favorite) There Goes My Baby - The Drifters (2nd all time favorite) In the Still of the Night - The Five Satins (show doe show-be doe) Oh What a Night - Dells Daddy's Home - Shep & Limelights Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-Ko-Bop, Tears on My Pillow - Little Anthony & Imperials Blue Moon - Marcels Heart And Soul - The Cleftones Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go - Hank Ballard & the Midnighters The Lion Sleeps Tonight - The Tokens I'm So Proud - The Impressions Some of the ones I can think of at the moment.
