Now That Stephanie Mills Went Independent I Hope She Issues This UNRELEASED Album! If people could pay "lil'" attention to the liner notes, they'll witness the madness ol'school artists went through.
Like me 4 example, I just discovered yesterday while reading Stephanie's Ultimate Collection liner notes that she completed a WHOLE album set produced by Phillip Baily & Maurice White and fully backed by EW&F on instruments which neva saw the light of the day. According 2 her, it got shelved becoz her company were focusing too much energy on Chaka & Rufus and they weren't ready 4 the pressure to promote this one esp since it was produced by BIG NAMES like White & Baily. This could've been a milestone at that time(any album with a Maurice/Phillip production credit written on its sleeve blasts the charts) she could've been BIGGER than Deniece Williams eva was if that album was released. I'm just wondering if she has the authority to ISSUE it nowadays, that would be the bomb-diggity,,,,nothing from EW&F's camp sounds dated IMO and this may help her promote her new album too. And since I'm too damn greedy,,,I hope she throw MY FAVE ALBUM from her "Sweet Sensation" in there too and have it REMASTERED with couple of bonuses and liner notes reviewing its recording session,,,,that would be hot. I could only dream tho

Stephanie Mills backed by EWF
That just would have been the end of it and it's probably a good thing that album didn't surface. EWF surely have the rights to these songs. Aargh! I bet they were later given to Deniece and The Emotions.

Not really! You see, Steph shared the creative control over the LP along with Phillip & Maurice and shared the lyrics credit on almost EVERY track except 4 one track which is an EW&F cover(obeviously).

I'm now even more intrigued with this latest news of her co-writing and producing. some lucky soul has a reel to reel tucked away somewhere. Assuming that this was done in her 20th Century / Casablanca days. Why didn't she release it when she moved to MCA? Not saying it doesn't exist, just trying to pinpoint where this thing could be,
