DEBBIE GIBSON IS COOL! Yeah thats right, I now like Debbie Gibson! At the time she was popular, when I was very young, I didn't like her, but after picking up "Out of the blue" very cheap, I forgot how good "Only in my dreams" was! That song is very nostalgic for me! "Staying together" is also a cool jam (honestly!)
So after that I tried a couple more of her albums including "Body, mind and soul" which is actually quite good all the way through and is not THAT corny unlike "Out of the blue" Tracks like "Shock your Mama" and the Newjackish "Love or money" are high energy groove cuts and yes I do also like "Little birdy", very stagey, but also very upbeat and fun! This is a real guilty pleasure, liking ANY of her stuff, but she was talented and in fact I have even more so called embarassing stuff than this. There ain't no shame in my game! Maybe I like this more 'innocent' or 'cheesy' type of music because as i grow older, I get more open-minded about music. From Prince-Tupac-Rolling stones-Michael Jackson-Phil Collins- Debbie gibson and hundreds more after that! Plus I guess I must be quite happy in my life as this music is very happy? (I think being a big fan of Prince opens you up to other genres of music (like Michael Jackson) as they both mix upalot of different styles, but then Newjack was like that aswell and I grew up on that too so.....) Maybe not "cool" but I, too, appreciate the appeal of Out Of The Blue and certain tracks on Electric Youth. You have to give her credit - she wrote, produced and sang her own songs, which is more than can be said for most stars (let alone teen stars) today. Remember "Lost In Your Eyes" from the movie "Welcome To The Dollhouse"? Classic. "She made me glad to be a man"

you are realizing this now? debbie gibson is the messiah for what today's POP TRASH like britney spears should be...a sole writer (NOT CO-WRITER on most songs) full producer and all-out musician.
OUT OF THE BLUE is a great album!!! I love most of the songs on ELECTRIC YOUTH except for the title song and WE COULD BE TOGETHER. SHades of the PAst and LOST IN YOUR EYES are my favorites... [This message was edited Fri Mar 26 6:46:11 2004 by purplegypsy] Let the rain come down...17 days....

Yep. Even though it was cheese, she did do the work. My boyfriend was madly in love with her and he still has her cds. Was it Foolish Beat that she completely did everything on? I remember her saying something to that effect.

The little snoot goes now by DEBORAH... NOT Debbie...
I guess she thought giving herself a more "grown up" name she it would change her image... The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom - Anais Nin

I have seen her interviewed a few times and she just comes across as being full of herself and almost like the interview is beneath her.. Sorry just my opinion of her.. BY the way, I almost didn't recognize it was you purple, without your Steve Nicks avie.. I thought Debbie was just the coolest and most talented except...that she couldn't dance to save herself. I have her Out of the BLue tour video (i'll admit it) and it's quite funny to watch her try to dance! Let the rain come down...17 days....

Unfortunately people can't get past the "teeny bopper" TIffany once was and the album commercially failed. I think it's brilliant. It's a shame she got such a raw deal. It's like an AA meeting..... And we still hate Tiffany I don't know..... I bet if I started a "Who else loves Tiffany?!" thread, there would be quite a few people finally feeling relieved that they weren't the only ones.
