OutKast in "Blender" magazine

Has anyone copped the latest issue of "Blander" magazine? For OutKast fans, this might be a difficult read as Andre 3000 hints that the band is headed for break-up, which has been ongoing for a hot minute. It's so sad that he feels like hip-hop is so dead that he does not want to tour in support of the new album and that he has cost the group so much money in lost endorsements because he does not support the product. I believe in my opinion that the success has gone to his head and that HE thinks he is OutKast when in actuality he is a Prince wannabe. He has been called a "genius" and my question is: on what grounds? If you listen to "The Love Below" it sounds like bad "Sign O the Times" outtakes and I just don't understand him right now.

Mad love to Big Boi for being strong and patient.

No, Andre wants to be a "jazz musician" now and act. He mentioned that he wants to attend the Julliard school in NY. It's one thing to want and desire to grow as an artist but it's another to just become a complete asshole too. I think that he thinks he can leave OutKast and just become this star in his own right and maybe he will but it just will not be the same without Big Boi and vice versa. Every duo can not be Simon and Garfunkel or Lennon and McCartney. Hell, Paul McCartney is STILL trying to remove himself from Lennon's shadow 30 years later.

From this month's NME:

OUTKAST are to release a pure rap album, according to close ally of the band.

Just a day after Andre 3000 moved to crush speculation that the band’s current album ‘Speakerboxx/The Love Below’ would be their last, long-time associate Bubba Sparxxx has revealed the musical direction of the new album.

"I’ve heard that they are going to do a completely rap album after this – just rap, no singing," he told NME.COM. "Sleepy Brown’s new single ‘I Can’t Wait’ has Andre rapping on it for the first time in a few years, so maybe he’s got the taste again."

Southern rapper Sparxxx was a huge fan of the duo and growing up. He is now part of the OutKast -inspired The Dungeon Family hip-hop collective. He also joined OutKast Big Boi onstage for a show in London earlier this week (March 1).

more power 2 him for continuing his education:

Juilliard has boasted such stellar alumni as Kevin Kline, Wynton Marsalis, Robin Williams, Christopher Reeve, Christine Baranski, Laura Linney, and Kelsey Grammer -- not to mention such distinguished instructors as Walter Damrosch and John Houseman.
