Actually. I'd throw in:

Me'Shell NdegeOcello -- Bitter. To me, "Cookie" sounded like a Sesame Street record compared to this LP.

Which just happened to be the best album I have heard in ages.

That's my favourite Me'Shell album. nod

Dear God I wore that album out a couple years ago. That thing has so many scratches on it from overuse. It lived in my stereo for months.

Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left/Pink Moon

This kid actually overdosed on anti-depressants sad

Mary Margret O' Hara - Miss America

I don't know whether she was depressed or not, but this album seems to always put me in a melancholic mood.

I have heard it said that people are more in touch with themselves when they are sad. For some reason they do better on tests because they're in a more reflective mood and I think that's why most artists write in a more honest fashion when they're depressed. The best artists are the ones that can write like that all the time. But these albums seem to hit us more especially when we're sad because we're more susceptable to their messages.

Having said that, for some reason Sarah McLachlan's stuff always bums me out no matter what. Same thing with Annie Lennox. It's all great music but there's such an underlying melancholy to it that always gets me. sad

Even for some1 like Andre 3000. I eman in interviews he never talks about being truly happy with everything around him, i dont know.
