Lenny Kravitz new single exclusively

On www.lennykravitz.com/pop you can listen to the new Lenny Kravitz's single: Where are we Runnin'? , from the forthcoming album Baptism, out in May 18th.
As a matter of fact I think the album will be a lot different from the single.
It's a simple song, give it a listen if you want.

I thought the song was pretty good...hopefully the CD has a few more rockers though. BTW, any Kravitz fans should definitely check out the new Stevie Salas disc, "The Soulblasters Of The Universe". Listen to clips here: Stevie Salas or at my site Hootchietoad.com Also, listen to the clip for Static and see if you notice the NPG influence. FUNKY stuff for sure.

Y'know the single isn't THAT bad, people love to live in the past.

It's sounds more "garage-rock-like" to me and I wonder when he saw the White Stripes. I hope the rest of the album is FUNKY 'cause this sure ain't

Thanks for posting this Lenny!

I thought this was going to be his FUNK album, but it sounds like a STUNK album. I really like him less and less as each album comes out.

I could do better than this.

I read recently (I think on mtv.com) that he abandoned that Funk album and started from scratch. This new album will not be funky at all...it wll be guitar/rock/acoustic focused...I picture is sounding like that song "Cant Get You Off of My Mind" or whatever it was called. I stopped listening to him when Circus came out. I used to love him and I think he's really talented...but his lyrics are always soooo bad. I liked a song or two fron the 5 album...but he has not stood the test of time for me. I wish him well though!

Wanna hear a FUNK album...check out Stevie Salas' "Soulblasters Of The Universe" @ http://www.steviesalas.com or http://www.hootchietoad.com, different clips on each site. Bootsy is on it, along with Jara Slapbak.

Funk was temporarily put apart, beacause at a moment he said he came up with great rock-guitar stuff, and wanted to follow the moment.
The funk album will maybe come out somw months later, since it is the result of 9 years of work

what 9's means is that its THE SAME FUCKIN SONG! ya know, when "let love rule" came out i overlooked all the beatles and elvis costello sound-alikes/bites. same with "mama said"..curtis mayfeild, earth wind & fire, a little zepplin..but it was cool. decent songs, plus its always good to see a bro. not afraid to embrace rock music as part of our musical tradition. that being said, the guy constanlty rips people off! remember when he bit prince's "wherever you go.." for ... "see you again"? now he's biting zztop? zz fuckin top?! this shit is ridiculous. simply ridiculous.

I really love it! I really love Lenny's music!

headbang you go Len! What a shame, that Lenny gets such a bashing on this site! I think there's room for more than one great musician! Voicing opinion is one thing, blatant shreading, another! And as for copying other artists... hello?! I love Prince, but he's been all the old greats - still is! Prince is still in himself, as well as his influences = same for Lenny.

This song can be good or bad, according to everyone. But it's not even similar to that ZZ Top song. I know that song. It's completely different. If makin' that music is so easy, why don't people try then?

I dont think anyone is comparing Prince and Lenny Kravitz. Personally, I'm not "bashing" or shredding" anyone. In fact, we dont even have to limit this topic to any one artist in particular. We can name many "artist" who have made careers off of other peoples music and image. I dont think that Lenny copys other artist at all. I do, however hear..let's call them "uncanny simililarites" between many of his songs(this one included) and songs that other artist have previously recorded. There is a big difference between being influenced by someone, and ripping someones music/song. If you listen to this single you can sing the verse to zztops "sharp dressed man" over it (the 1st verse, anyway. I stopped listening shortly after the chorus). To me that a little deeper than an influence. To my ears thats the same song. Do you really have me defending zztop? Now thats deep.

peace.

Tell me about it hmm I just saw his permy pics on the RRHOF slideshow on Yahoo - it ain't cool man neutral He's no Prince, he's no James Brown or Sly, just seems so dated on him (knowing if P was rocking the long hair right now I'd be juiced!) lol
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

I've never heard the song, but want to. I've heard people say things about his music in the past, comparing him to other people. I just hear the Lenster. I simply love the music he makes and I think he is totally underrated. People hear different things in what they think are comparisons.

i listened to the song, "sharp dressed man". Well, it's true. the first verse is almost equal, but it's equal to another dozen of rock song. that's not a rip-off to me.
Alycia Keys "Falling" was a James Brown rip-off. From "It's a man's man's world". They're EQUAL.
So, she rips-off but she's a genius, Lenny rips-off and he sucks?
