Ani Defranco - To The Teeth This is becoming one of my favorite albums of all time. While critics and Ani's fans tend to express a certain disdain for it, I personally find the lyrics moving and the music intoxicating.

Is this the one with "...in walked a man in the shape of a man, wearing a hat shaped hat"? I read she wrote most of it high on weed, and I thought it showed.

Im not sure, Im going to check the lyric booklet again. But keep in mind that some of the best albums of all time were written high on weed. See Parliament Funkadelic, Bob Marley etc...

No, that's from the Up Up Up Up Up Up album. That song has snippets that remind me of Parliament. Too The Teeth is probably my favorite album by Ani, along with her double live album Living In Clip. I don't understand why a lot of her fans don't hold it in high esteem either. Maybe they're more the purist types. Anyway, the woman plays and writes her ass off. She's muy importante. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I love this album
On a Prince related note: One time I was at early for a Paisley Party on a Friday night and Prince drove up to the front door in his Purple Prowler and one of his staff ran something out to him, but the funny part (at least in my mind) is that he was just blasting Providence .

I hold it in very high esteem. Revelling/Reckoning (also a double album) is my favorite of hers. It's right up there with my other favorite double albums: Sign O' The Times, Songs In The Key of Life, and Bitches Brew. I just love the way she thinks-- a great lyricist. It's a crime how underrated she is.
