Garrison Starr - for fans of americana music (lucinda williams, steve earle, etc)... www.garrisonstarr.com or www.vanguardrecords.com/garrisonstarr/
i don't know how many of you guys have heard of garrison, but she's a kick ass singer/songwriter from mississippi... i've seen her in concert twice opening for steve earle (once with a band, and once solo acoustic), and this girl rocks the hell out... great lyrics and a nice set of pipes on her... a nice mix of post-alternative rock, country, and folk... her first 3 albums are out of print, but you can still find "songs from take off to landing" and her new one "airstreams and sattelites" just came out last month...

I gotta check out the new record. I have her last one and I really like it. I was supposed to go see her open for Melissa Etheridge last year and was unable to....but I agree with you that she is a GREAT talent! Every minute of last night is on my face today.... | |

indeed... when we saw her the first time opening for steve earle, it was her on guitar, her bass player, and she was using steve earle's brother and second percussionist as her drummer... but when we saw her the second time opening for him, she was solo acoustic... she said that she had to let the band go, because she couldn't afford to keep 'em around...  ...
we were not expecting her to be able to keep us engaged without the rest of the band, but she surprised the hell out of us... she tore it up... Mr. Ellis Dee-licious, the Official NPGigolo
