Cathy Dennis: The Linda Perry of '04?

Much like ex-4 Non Blondes frontwoman Linda Perry, whose writing credits on recent chart hits for artists such as Pink and Christina Aguilera ("Beautiful") have garnered much attention, dance-pop chanteuse Cathy Dennis is another former music star-turned-sought after songwriter who has been on a similar roll penning a string of high profile hit singles.

People began taking major notice of Dennis' pop crafting sensiblities when Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" became an inescapable worldwide sensation in 2002. Since then, she's penned hit tunes for Britney Spears ("Toxic") and now Janet Jackson ("Island Life") on her forthcoming studio album. It's my guess-timation that Dennis will continue being the go-to girl for artists in the pop industry for '04.

All I can say is, I'm happy for Cathy. I've missed homegirl ever since her last hit "Touch Me (All Night Long)." It's about time! I can't wait to hear her contribution to the new Janet LP.

Check out her website at http://www.irresistiblecathy.com/

Now if only we could get Billy Lawrence out of the woodworks!

I always thought she was one of the best-looking redheads in music. Glad to see she's doing well.

If you hear only one album it should be: either Move To This or Am I The Kinda Girl? (if you can find it).

Unfortunately, JanFan, that isn't her official site. I don't think she has one. And she's pretty much retired from performing, focussing her energies completely on her songwriting now. But she's enough of a personality to go on CDUK or Top Of The Pops to introduce her songs when the artists are unable to.

Here's a list of her songwriting credits, referenced by artist http://www.irresistibleca...iting.html. Interesting to note that she does background vocals for and coproduces most everything she writes.

Her songwriting and production skills are said to have made Cathy in excess of £2.5million (approx $3.9million) in 2002 alone, making her one of the highest paid women in the UK.

They showed Linda Perry in the audience during the Grammys. She had a mohawk haircut, which kind of surprised me. I guess the mental picture that I had of her in my head didn't match with the real thing. falloff

I never knew that Linda was the lead singer for the group 4 Non-Blondes. I loved their song "What's Going on?", and find myself singing along to it when I hear it on the radio. I even remember seeing Linda singing it live on TV one time when the song first came out (I forget what TV program).

Uh, sorry, but you're thinking of another song with the same title. Cathy's "Touch Me (All Night Long)" was written by her.
