LL working with Timbaland

Timbaland is producing a majority of trax for LL's new album DEFinite.:

SANTA MONICA, California — While other team-ups have been moved to the back burner, LL Cool J has one hot collaboration bubbling away.

11th album, DEFinition (see "LL Cool J Seeks DEFinition, Awaits Bloody 'Mind
Hunters' "), solely with Timbaland.

"I feel great about it," LL said recently. "Me and Timbaland really got together, and we just work it, baby."

The duo are nearly half done, and while no other artists have contributed to the album, LL said guests might be added later.

DEFinition so far avoids the kind of R&B-flavored tunes the rapper has become known for in recent years.

"It sounds nothing like what people are expecting," Cool J said. "Automatically you think about slow songs, but this is a party record. A lot of tracks on it are club and party and feel-good songs. I can't promise you it's gonna be a hit, but I can promise you I like it."

"Apple Cobbler" is a prime example. "It's absolutely all over the dance floor," LL said, "like you going crazy."

As for his Best of Both Worlds-style project with Ginuwine (see "Ginuwine, LL Steal A Page From R. Kelly And Jay-Z's Book"), LL said it's still in the discussions phase.

"I like Ginuwine, his music, his vibe," Cool J said. [Ginuwine's a] good guy, talented. But I don't want to speak about it like it's a done deal. It's definitely an interesting concept. I'm not above doing something like that. I mean, all the greatest artists in the world, like Marvin Gaye, have collaborated with other people."

I haven't bought an LL record since Phenomenon but a whole record with TIMBALAND, I don't care if they sell it as a party record, that will be off the meat rack!
