They're called infantile fixations. Early pleasure experiences with the various orifices of the body get mixed with certain linguistic and otherwise semantic connections the surrounding social reality provides us. We are never able to overcome them, therefore some individuals can reflect their inner problems located at the subconsious by performing acts others would deem "horrible."

For some reason Billboard doesn't work on this computer (and this is a school computer!) so I can't see the horror for myself but I believe you. I remember seriously looking at the album and thinking "Hmmm...maybe". Thank god I woke up from the nightmare! Hey, she's got a good voice and is cute and sings a sugary pop confection that people enjoy. She ain't hurting no one!

A voice is nothing without control, phrasing and subtlety. NONE of which she has

NONE of which she has well then, who would you like to see at the #2 slot? you appear to know something about music...sort of. what vocalist in your opinion has the control, phrasing, and subtlety that would make them worthy of being near the top of billboard's 200 this week?

I'm not sure, but the pickings are getting slimmer and slimmer with each passing year. Somehow, I think you missed my point, though - which was not that Jessica's voice doesn't merit such a high ranking. Yes, Jessica showed promise 5 years ago with "I Wanna Love You Forever", but she's since embraced cheese and erratic vocal stylings. Primarily I was shocked at the number of people who bought a horrible album simply because it was repackaged with a horrible cover of "Take My Breath Away".
