Culture Club's VICTIMS - An Underrated Ballad

Love the energy in this song....
Victims - Culture Club
The victims we know so well
They shine in your eyes
When they kiss and tell
Strange places we never see
But you're always there
Like a ghost in my dream
And I keep on telling you
Please don't do the things you do
When you do those things
Pull my puppet strings
I have the strangest void for you

We love and we never tell
What places our hearts in the wishing well
Love leads us into the stream
And it's sink or swim
Like it's always been
And I keep on loving you
It's the only thing to do
When the angel sings
There are greater things
Can I give them all to you

Pull the strings of emotion
Take a ride into unknown pleasure
Feel like a child on a dark night
Wishing there was some kind of heaven
I could be warm with you smiling
Hold out your hand for a while
The victims we know them so well

The victims we know so well
They shine in your eyes when they kiss and tell
Strange places we never see
But you're always there like a ghost in my dream
And I keep on telling you
Please don't do the things you do
When you do those things, pull my puppet strings
I have the strangest void for you

Show my heart some devotion
Push aside those that whisper never
Feel like a child on a dark night
Wishing there were some kind of heaven
I could be warm with you smiling
Hold out your hand for a while
The victims we know them so well, so well...
Let the rain come down...17 days....

Yup, Culture Club is one of my favourite groups. Another great ballad is "Mistake No. 3".

But my ALL-TIME favourite Culture Club track is "Time (Clock Of The Heart)". What a gorgeous piece of pop perfection.

Anyone who liked them should try to track down a copy of their 1998 Europe/Japan-only album "Don't Mind If I Do", which is absolutely wonderful and is perhaps their best album.

I agree. "Victims" and "Mistake Number 3" are the two Culture Club songs that are my favorites. But then again, I liked all of the songs that were released by them.

thumbs up!

~Victims~ is a brilliant piece of work from one of my fav bands of all time. It isn't my favorite song though, others that stand out are ~More Then Likely~, ~Crying Game~, ~Do U Really Want 2 Hurt Me~ & ~Love Is Love~.

Love nearly all of the songs mentioned.....two other favorites of mine both off of Colour By Numbers are "Black Money" (GREAT lyrics!) and "That's The Way (I'm Only Trying To HElp You). Over the years, I must've played that latter one over a million times....it's not even three minutes long, short and sweet.

I love the title of this thread. "Culture Club's Victims". You're sure we don't have a freudian slip here?

Yeah, I'm sooo gay too.
