Steve Winwood just got back from seeing SW and he is the man! the dude must be reaching sixty and for sure he's mellowed a bit, but boy they don't do it like that no more.
there was more groove there than you could shake a stick at. he getting inducted into the Hall of Fame next week as well. my two biggest musical heroes getting inducted on the same night - wow! go check him out peoples!

Another musician gets his due I got to have a conversation with him a couple of years ago and he's just a down to earth good cat. One of the top 10 rock voices.
See what happens when you just ask somebody to "Gimme some lovin'". "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Anybody have some Steve Winwood songs you could recommend? I already know Gimme Some Lovin', While You See a Chance, Back in the High Life, Higher Love, Roll with It, and Valerie. Those tracks are pretty good, but somebody give me some more reasons I should check him out...

You're missing the whole "Traffic" period. The Best of Traffic would be a good one to get your feet wet. Milty can probably give you some specific tunes "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

check out the Refugees Of The Heart cd. it's wicked. lots of groove on it. Junction 7 is ok but not great. 2003's About Time is GREAT! he ditched the bass plpayer and just recorded using the hammond, a guiarist, percussion and a drummer. he did all the bass parts on the hammond. it has lots of latin-tinged funk/rock. sounds a bit like Santana. the limited edition has a couple of live versions on it and an amazing cover of Hendrix's Voodoo Chile. wicked. also the Blind faith stuff with Eric Clapton is fab as well as the Traffic stuff. now that was a band!!!
