And let me add Travis and Collective Soul to my list, too.
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

Radiohead (I know they're popular, but imho, better than Coldplay and deserving of more. I guess Thom Yorke should've hooked up with Gwenyth).
sshame, tho'... I like Coldplay but for me Radiohead's music is a ton better.

Oh yeah Annie Lennox is underrated.
And shes got an Oscar & mulitple Grammys
plus millions in music sales just to show
how no one appreciates her.

her oscar is only weeks old...her grammys are mostly for her early work. when i tell people that she is one fo my favorites the response i usually get is..."who? oh, that wierd lady from the 80's band eurythmics? i didn't know she still made music." to me, that is underrated.

outside of prince based websites, find me some people who can name any of his recent work. find me some people who think he's more than a wierd gay guy who wore assless pants to the mtv awards and made a movie/soundtrack called 'purple rain'. his career spans how many years and how many records has he made? and for what albums does he have a grammy? how many of records sell these days? um, yeah, i'd reckon he's underrated.

voices carry was just pointing out that her last album sold really well...you just cant base appreciation on exposure....shoot most people dont know Britney has a new album or that Madonna released an album last year....because music is soo segregated nowadays...unless you are into the specific genre or follow the artist, you really cant tell whats going on.....

Sales have everything to do with being rated in the public's eye. A true artist is someone like say, Eric Dolphy or Bryant Jones. Not these fricking pop acts people bitch about not getting enough attention.

It's your opinion whether or not someone is underrated. And I certainly don't think lack of attention makes somebody an artist.
