On the plus side, there are apparently NO INTERLUDES!!!!! (but I'm guessing that some of those 24 tracks are actually interludes).

Threads like these make me so happy to be on the org - thanks for posting.
But no way are those 24 songs all complete songs, Voices Carry. You know how she names her interludes.

OOOOOoooooh. I like the title "Strawberry Bounce" -- that sounds so sexy.
Also, I like "R&B Junkie" I wonder what that's about. Looks like Janet and JD in love on this one. ::slammin' my head into the keyboard:: MARCH 30! LMAO!

Nobody should be dropping 24 songs on a CD anyway. I HOPE some are interludes. Royalites are hard enough for artists to collect and since royalties are only paid 10 songs per album, you all should expect some interludes. The rest are free songs (as far as royalties re concerned.)

of course she gonna have the interludes, she had them in there since Rhythm Nation. Usually they are pointless, but sometimes it is funny, and i hope she keeps on doing it. "The Islands" sounds nice, and "Sexhibition" Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

"The Islands" sounds nice, and "Sexhibition" Interludes are Janet's trademark. It's her "thing." I like it, and it gives the albums a cinematic feel like I'm "listening" to a movie. It's signature Janet. My favorite Interludes were from TVR and RN1814. INTERLUDE: LIVIN'...IN COMPLETE DARKNESS In complete darkness we are all the same. Cannot wait! March 30th cannot come soon enough. All those tracks sound promising but I'm sure that are ton of them are those famous Janet interludes. I hope that "Strawberry Bounce" and "The Island Life" are both tracks. THey sound very promising!

For the most part, I don't mind the interludes, although I felt a lot of them messed up the flow of The Velvet Rope. I certainly don't feel that they take away from the music though. And there a lot of interludes that I love. At least Janet always makes them separate tracks, instead of adding them to the begginings of songs like a lot of artists do.

"all for you"s flow was killed by the interludes.....i dont even bother listening to the album (didnt help that a good 1/3rd of the album was filler crap).... Space for sale...

Though I enjoy it and will always love Janet, All For You, in general, was a let-down. The interudes were ridiculous and served no purpose. As for the songs, though I love "Trust a Try", it does not hold a candle "If", which I find to be similar in terms of the music. On a positive note, there are some great songs on AFY, including "All For You", "Feels So Right", and "Son of a Gun".

AFY had its moments. When I first heard the album it sounded so euphoric. Still does, but I don't return to it as much as I do TVR or her earlier projects. When you come off an introspective, critically acclaimed record like TVR, you're bound to come in with high expectations. AFY depended a little too much on "proven formulas" and didn't really break much artistic ground like her previous LPs. It seemed like an album that was vying for TRL approval. The interludes were semi-decent (nowhere near as memorable as RN1814's, TVR or even janet.'s, for that matter). I liked "2wayforyou" and "Clouds." My favorite songs on the album are the title track, You Ain't Right, When We Oooo, China Love, Love Scene (Oooh Baby), Trust A Try (it's a shame this wasn't made into a music video), Would You Mind, Truth, Doesn't Really Matter (although I think the Rockwilder-produced album version sucks and the original Nutty Professor 2 SDTK version should've been included on the album), and Someone To Call My Lover.

I agree completely about "Doesn't Really Matter", and was going to say the same thing. I never listen to the All For You version because the one from NP2 is so much better.

Also, I prefer the video edit of "All For You" that's on the single to the album version.

I liked the 1814 and janet. interludes, but as much as Velvet Rope rules, the interludes weren't my favorite, even the fun ones ie. "Bumpy Ride". And I usually program the interludes out of All For You if I can.

Damn it, all these Deluxe Editions and they can't even release defining albums from their catalogue (Melissa Ethridge's debut? WTF?). Bonus Disc needs to be packed with 12'' mixes, dub mixes, and acapellas. [This message was edited Sun Mar 7 14:58:40 2004 by VoicesCarry]

What I really want on CD is the acapella for "Nasty". I know there are some import Control remix albums, and I would hate to see a deluxe version repeat some of those songs. I want outtakes or never-before-released-on-CD-until-now kinda tracks.
