Post Your 70s Soul Album For The Day (3-5-04)

Mine is...

Harley, I know you're gonna back me up here! lol

I heard "Hollywood" on the radio this morning on my way to work and fell in love with this album all over again! This is, by far, my favorite album by this band. Chaka's "Earth Song" is so moving and the way it softly ends adds to the mellow-like groove. music

So, what's your 70s soul album for the day???

"Dont Turn Around / Baby Wont U Change" by Black Ivory

They recently re-released their first 2 soul classics and I was not dissapointed when I heard their albums for the first time. "Dont Turn Around" has some classic NY underground soul, and their voices were top notch. Leroy's falcetto couldnt be messed with on jams like "Find The One Who Loves You" "Mirror" the remake of "Got To Be There" and the hit "Dotn Turn Around". **** stars.

Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Yeah, it sounds like she was really going through it on that album. Do you know what inspired her to write "Hollywood?"

Her crazy ass lifestyle at that moment I guess. She didn't write the song tho, it was David "Hawk" Wolinski who did(the co-keyboardist)!

Along with leaving her kids behind with nannies and trying to kill herself by OD'ing herself with that mess and EVEN suicide-attempting(back in 76 in a Texas hotel's balacony). If it weren't 4 god and her ex-husband(many time), she would be long gone.

In fact, the title "Wild child" was given to her becoz of her monsterish attitude and her isntante drug over-using.

Chaka tried to kill herself? eek More than once?! omg Damn, homegirl was really fucked up in the head, huh? I'm glad she got it together. Maybe that's why she and Mary are so tight now?

Not that surprised. Their albums have just been re-released and they were very NY Underground soul. Leroy did work for Blackstreets last album recently.

A soul group to not be slept on at all.
