cracker is one of my favorite bands of all-time... i dig how they mix a more old-school sound of rock music with a very definite modern style of song-writing... the first cracker record i owned was "the golden age"... i heard it during the most depressing summer... the local alternative rock station in charleston played the cd in it's entirety one sunday morning, and that was it... i jammed "big dipper" and "i hate my generation" for the rest of that summer... Candy Dulfer is my boo...

Big Dipper is one of my all time favorite songs!
I have to admit I hold Camper Van Beethoven closer to my heart, but Cracker is just about as good! They always kick out solid albums and NEVER disappoint live!

I've been a fan since their first album! I've seen every show I've been able to get into (they played a lot of ID shows here before I was 21) in Mpls including an in-store performance where there were maybe only 30 people in attendance and I got each band member to sign all of my album covers from Cracker brand through Garage d'Or. Amazing live band. Amazing band period. |

I never actually purchased Garage D'or, but did just get the Cd that they did with Leftover Salmon called "Oh Cracker, where art thou?" It's kick-ass! I think that Gentleman's Blues is probably my least favorite CD of theirs.

I don't have that one. I'll have to check it out. Did you get their latest album of country covers? Sooooo much fun. I wish they would have played more from it when they toured last time after it came out. |

The only Cracker song I know is their country version of "White Riot" which was on a Clash tribute album. Country and Punk do not mix. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

EllisDee said: country and punk is the best mixture... they're both very rootsy 3 chord music with very plain spoken lyrics that people who are lower down on the totum pole can really feel and identify with....

Carrie, just picked up "Countrysides" yesterday. I'm digging it - especially "Ain't gonna suck itself."
