Terence Trent D'arby- Wild Card Review!

Hello,

Here is my first review:

Flashback 1987 Terence Trent D'arby (BTW he goes by the name Sananda Maitreya now) His C.D.'s Inroducing the Hardline...(Great funk music), Neither Fish, Nor Flesh (My 2nd favorite), Symphony or Damn (Great mixture of rock, soul and yes country), Vibrator (Great Rock/Soul C.D.) and now 8 years later...Wild Card- The Jokers Edition. Wow! No wonder it took him so long to release a C.D. This is pure perfection and his best work yet. A mixture of diverse music. So candid! 19 songs of pure soul music at it's Greatest! Outshines anything that is out there now. Truly a piece or ART! I've seen him perform live 4 times now, By the way i recently saw him at B.B. Kings (NYC) this summer 2003 and his voice is still incredible! Don't miss out on this C.D. release you won't be sorry! Check out his Official Website... www.sanandamaitreya.com

Don't be too offended, but using that many exclamation marks is not going to land you a job in the music press.

Hola Serious, Babycakes and the Sananda fans,

I just sometimes don't think this man got the respect in the industry as he should have. Manki yes he is working on Angels And Vampire and i hope he releases this year as he is about to tour the US this year! My likes on the Wildcard CD...My Dark Places, SRR-636, Sayin' about you (done slow in concert), Sweetness +

Any buy the Joss Stone CD? I think it pretty cool!"Fell in love with a boy" sounds like TTD's "Supermodel Sandwich" in phrasing and music. Any thoughts?

Word, Joss Stone definitely is the blue-eyed soul of the millenium.

But anyways, "Wildcard" is a very fine album. But it's just that TTD is talented, but it's just his ego that I have a problem with. He bragged about his first album saying it was greater than The Beatles, then he diesses the industry. What's up with that?

Yeah NWF, but he meant it more like a joke, but i guess nobody got it. I think he had a right to diss the industry + Prince did it too. Those guys really got robbed! As did alot of people in the industry. That's why Prince and Terence (Sananda) have their own labels. Can't wait to see what they come up on her new CD (coming out soon) Joss is impressive for her age 16.

Yeah, many people didn't understand that TTD was being ironic when he said certain things (btw, this was in 1987!!!).

Hi Peter!

Good to see you on here to lead the troops smile I'm sure alot of people don't know of the release of WildCard. So i'm trying to get the word out. Maybe this will lead a way for a TTD/Prince performance on the grammys? smile

I think "Shalom" is a very good song. I believe that's the track that our favorite guitarist, Wendy Melvoin, plays on.

Very cool i didn't know that. Is this the only track she played on? Any other known musicians play on Wildcard?

No that's not true, the song is "Sweetness", not "Shalom". Wendy plays bass on this track. From the liner notes of the album (but just from the first edition of the album, he re-released it and changed the credits, but the song is still on): Bass: The Fabulous- The Original- The One And Only Super Goddess: Wendy Melvoin
