Then=Prince vs. Michael, Now=JC Chasez vs. J. Timberlake

Of course we all know who won the match between Prince and MJ. Purple applause, please...

I may offend people when I say this but have you noticed the similiarities in vocal performance and musical content between MJ/JT and Prince/JC? When JT's Justified came out all you heard about was how he sounds sooo much like MJ. No doubt Justified is one of my favorite non-NPG albums. Now, Mr. JC Chasez has burst upon the scene with songs reminiscent of Mr. Nelson.

JT's got the MJ falsetto style down pat. The Neptunes produced a kick assed MJ replication with the use of T-Lakes voice. I'm a dancer so I dig it to death. As a Prince fam and lover of 80's dance music, I've become enamored with JC's album.

Schizophrenic kicks ass!!! I didn't expect much at all from this album. He was always known as the guy singing behind Justin that was just as talented. I saw him do an astounding performance of All Day I Dream About Sex on the Wade Robinson Show a couple of months ago. I waited forever for the album to come out so I could at least shake it to the single. I like the cheeky Some Girls Dance With Women. I risked it and purchased it. Talk about heavy rotation. Now that I've played the music long enough to actually listen to the lyrics, I hear sooo much of the Revolution era. When you get a minute check out 100 Ways and Shake It.

Anyone else hear the similiarities?

Then = Talented Guy vs. Talented Guy at creative peaks

Now = Let the "Battle" Of The No-Talent Rip-Off Artists Begin

What's the likelihood even of Justin and/or JC being around in 5 years? Debbie Gibson vs. Tiffany is more comparable to this.

Boy Prince's star has really fallen. He's being compared to a boyband member. I think you're looking for Then=Jermaine vs. Michael, Now=JC Chasez vs. J. Timberlake. smile

Better than Michael, who's being compared to Pee Wee Herman and life-term pedophiles.

Both suck ass. Neither one is deserving of being mentioned in the same breath as Wacko Jacko, and they sure as hell shouldn't be compared to P. Couple of lame-ass pretenders to the throne.

They're not pretending to be anything. They're just doing what they love for a living, how many of us can say the same???

I thnk it'll b another several years before we can suss out who's the pretender and who's the real deal here. They might both be real, they might both be pretenders but who knows? If you think about it, The Beatles started off as basically a boy band. They didn't even do much of their own material on their first couple records and look where they wound up? Now even orchestras play their material. I'm not saying JC and JT are the greatest things since sliced bread but time will tell. Although for JC's sake, I hope there's better stuff on his record than "Some Girls Dance With Women" cuz that song blows dead bear!

i don't want to correct you, but i will. if with "then" you mean the eighties, then, my friend, mike was the obvious winner. commercially that is. commercially mike kicked prince's ass. now, before you start calling names, this has nothing to do with personal taste. yours or mine for that matter. it's just fact. mike's the eighties' victor of popular music.
don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain

Well, that was an unsuccessful attempt to ask a question. I may have confused some of you with the way I approached the topic. Of course my love for P. got in the way of my point of discussion, but I do love the man.

I was really trying to see if anyone noticed how JC and JT are using those guys as a standard in their development. It is possible that they are "bitting" off of MJ and P, but if I were an artist and someone paid respect to my form of music I'd dig it.

I agree that these guys aren't The Greatest of All Time. I definately didn't say that. I don't see PM Dawn on TRL right now, but I still melt when I hear "Die Without You".

I guess that you'd have to actually LISTEN to the albums to understand what I'm getting at.

What is music coming to when you're comparing Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez to Michael Jackson and Prince? disbelief
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.
