Cure/Pixies/Love & Rockets Tour 2004!!!

I just read a rumor that The Cure, The Pixies and Love & Rockets will be touring this August.

It sounds too good to be true.

But the three bands have toured before, in 1989, and if it DOES turn out to be true, I'm going to be completely beside myself with retro '80s gothed-out glee. Dang....

Anyone else heard any buzz on this?

Daniel Ash was my goth boyfriend as a teenager, though I was Robert Smith's bitch too (duh). If this happens, it's gonna be a blissed out lovefest for me. Damn.

Taht would be great! I know Pixies have joined again for touring, they'll be in Spain very soon, but I hadn't listened any rumour about a cure tour.

Mmmmm I truly had fun in the Bauhaus live comeback, it would be interesting go 2 a love and rockets concert, though the style is different, I've heard

Love & Rockets is more pop/rock oriented, with some T.Rex glam thrown in, but you can definitely tell that they were 3/4ths of Bauhaus...the influence is still there. You should check out their "Earth Sun Moon" and "Express" albums. Good stuff.

L&R isn't goth at all. In fact, they're very Psychedelic! Very different from Bauhaus, yet most fans dig L&R as well. All their album are great, so anyone of them is a good starting point. You could always pick up "Sorted! The Best Of Love & Rockets", although I feel some truly important songs are not included.

I wouldn't call them goth at all either, though I would certainly say they're goth friendly...at least as long as Daniel Ash is still spiking his hair and wearing the lipstick, anyway. wink

ok, then, I'll try to listen to some of them!

I think I saw a greatest hits dvd on a record store recently, I don't know if it's new or not, by I always have fun looking at videos from the 80's or eraly 90's.

omg

I don't think I would survive the show. I'd end up with a stroke or heart attack or at the very least passing out in pure bliss and glee. This would have been my dream line up back in the day. Earth Sun Moon was the first non-mainstream album I owned and fell in love with. The Cure quickly followed and the Pixies weren't far behind that, once I knew what I was looking for.

I can't even possibly begin to imagine seeing them all in the same night. holy crap!

He's still spiking his hair at least. I saw him perform solo about a year ago. He's still such a Rock Star.

Sounds promising, but nothing official yet on the (un?)official Pixies website:

i hope that's not true....

The Cure doesn't need to tour with anybody. Touring w/ 2 other bands, and they won't be able to play their usual near-3 hour set.

That would fucking rock. So many big shows this year! I also agree that the Cure doesn't really need to tour with anybody though. It would be cool if it was true. Not into Love and Rockets put the Cure and the Pixies!

Actually, the Cure will probably still play their usual set. Years ago, when L&R was the opening act for them, they still played three hours.
