i hope madonna...

uses a clip track on this tour.

i just received my copy of the drowned world tour dvd and she really doesn't sound good. i'm not thrilled with the cinematography of the show, either but that has nothing to do with m. when i was at the show, the sheer excitement distracted me from any imperfections but this is just painful. candy perfume girl really sounds awful! i gotta give her props for not editting this stuff in post-production (for dvd, i mean). now i realize why she named it the 'drowned world tour'...this bitch sounds like she's drowning, lol.

no, seriously...you know i will be at this next tour, no doubt! but she needs to lip sync cuz this just sounds really bad!

rolleyes First of all...you're just NOW getting the DWT DVD?? That thing has been out since 2001! lol

Secondly,Madonna will not be lip-synching on her upcoming tour so,if you don't like her voice, you may wanna consider staying home this time around. If it's lip-syncing you want, you'll have to wait for the Janet tour.

lol

eek That's the first time I've ever heard someone want to hear lip-syncing! hmm

You may just wanna stick with the studio produced videos.

Nothing beats LIVE... nothing. confused

If you want to pay to see someone dance to a Madonna backing track, it doesn't have to cost $100 hmm

yeah, i never bought it because i was at the show and i never felt like watching it at home. the other day i wanted to see it so i went to ebay and bought a copy. my boyfriend was watching it with me and he laughed at it. even at the parts that i was telling him were really good. i was like "you had to be there". and that's really true. the dvd is not shot well and she really does sound pretty rough. i know it sounds stupid saying that i'd rather hear her lip sync or use a clip track but, honestly, the only songs that sounded decent on dw tour were the ones where she did just that. the performances were really good. the choreogrpahy was really interesting. it was just the voice. though, to be fair, la isla bonita sounds really good and that may have been my favorite performance so i'm glad it came off well on the dvd.

as for staying home...now, come on...you know i'm gonna go and have a blast! that bitch could sing those songs in sign language and i'd go, lol. but i am very grateful that janet knows her limits and wants to put on the best possible show. madonna used to lip sync more often and she should just go back to it. i don't mean that maliciously, either. i just really enjoyed the dancing more than the singing.

***best parts of the Drowned World tour: "Frozen"."Impressive Instant" and "Music"

***low point of the Drowned World Tour: "The Funny Song" (that awful country song that she performed in the third act)

Your turn....

best parts: las isla bonita, frozen, holiday, don't tell me, secret, the choreography during human nature and music

worst parts: the fact that she sounds like a ghost or a woman in desperate need of estrogen for the majority of the show

so many edits, so little time

I totally agree with the fact that this DVD sucks arse.
It's boring as fuck...allmost like a run through dress rehearsal.
She sounds forced/strained/unnatural/outofbreath throughout biggrin...
She needs 2 relax and sound fluent when she sings...
Though I quite like the Candy Perfume vox...

In her defense though...she sounded great in the Euro shows! cool
Let's blame it on the boring all seated US audiences lol

Yeah, I didn't think it was that bad, but her previous shows were better. I'm glad I taped it off of HBO... I saw it in the store and didn't consider buying it. I would buy the Girlie Show first, then the 93-99 videos. I don't have any Madonna dvds yet.

i love me some girlie show! that's my favorite of all her tours. i watched blonde ambition around the time of the drowned world tour (you know, to psyche myself up more) and i thought it was kinda corny...with not so great choreosgraphy. though, at the time, i thought the show was tops!

I know, I LOVED Blond Ambition when it came out. Now I think Girlie Show is better. My favorite part of Blond Ambition is during Like a Prayer when shes feaking out on the floor. I haven't seen Truth or Dare in ages. I wonder if I would still enjoy that.

I think watching that on HBO was the final nail in the coffin in terms of my obsession with Madge. Although Swept Away is HILARIOUS (and interestingly, the original is a great movie).

It's definitely the voice that kills it...Madonna used to be able to carry a tune live, and she can't anymore. I think it has something to do with giving birth and her diaphragm, because it first got noticeable after her first child and then just got worse...up until then her voice was getting better and better - remember? Up until Evita? Even LIVE she could carry a tune. Now, even if she's not dancing, so she's not out of breath or anything like that, she simply can't stay on pitch. It's painful and embarassing - or hilariously awful, depending upon your viewpoint.

Yeah, I guess I stopped being able to say that she was a great performer and really mean it - she USED to be no doubt (put on a tape of Blond Ambition and I'm strappin' traffic cones to my chest), but.....

I was at a really cheesy local playhouse last weekend, watching a really cheesy local play...and one of the really cheesy lines in it was, "Watching that was as uncomfortable as watching Madonna sing and play guitar," and for once I laughed along with the Madonna-haters.

Oh well. I'm still putting up the poster of her nude hitchhiking from the Sex era - SO HOTT.

btw,did you guys notice TRON and Moonbeam on the DWT DVD? They're the two guys in the front row and you can see them jumping up and down during "Beautiful Stranger" and "Candy Perfume Girl".

'The Girlie Show' was incredible, wasn't it? Shame on her for not doing more shows in the US with that tour! It was WAY better than the Blond Ambition tour.

like Madonna hasn't been adverse to lip-synching in the past! C'mon! lol

Even Prince took the piss outa Madge @ Radio City Music Hall back in '93 when she was in the crowd.

"Wait a minute, something's wrong, i should be lip-synching y'all, i think i should be ip-synching!" I would have LOVED to see Madonna's face when he said that! lol
