Bonus Super 70's Soul Track Of The Day(3/01/04)...The Jackson 5-I Found That Girl(1970)

We all know that Michael was the main focus in the Jackson 5...but what made them interesting and great is that every now and then Jermaine would be given lead vocal duties for an entire song while the rest of the brothers would sing background. This song is an underrated gem....From the album ABC{many people consider this to be their best Motown album}, this song was on the B-side of their number #1 smash "The Love You Save". The disc jockeys back then gave this song plenty of airplay. This is what you call soul music right here. SO joyous and uplifting. Jermaine sound as he is totally elated at finally finding true love. My mom used to play this song all the time back in 1970 and several years afterwards. She says it's her favorite Jackson 5 track.

Jermaine bought it on this track.....

"She said son go on and search her out
There's a good girl that's out there to be found
And Mama...I think I found that giiirl...yeeeeahh..yeaaaah
Mama...I think I found that giiirrlllll"

EXCELLENT STUFF!!!!

clapping I'm so glad that someone mentioned this song!! It's one of my favorite Jackson 5 songs, and it never gets the props it deserves.Perhaps because it's one of the few songs that Michael is NOT singing lead on?

I became a J5 fan in 1974,when my uncle gave me the "Best of the Jackson 5" album (released in 1971).This song was on that album, and I've loved it ever since I first heard it.

Great pick,Bro915!!

And to drive the point home at the end of the track as it is fading out...He shouts...

"Mama....I KNOW I KNOW I found that girrllll!!!

As if he's 100% certain he has found the one.

Classic!!!!

Sure cute little Michael was the center of attention during the J5 years (it's even been said that Marlon was the better dancer!), but you just couldn't sleep on Jermaine! Nice pick! thumbs up!
