Alana Davis -- "I Don't Care (Lonesome Road)" I think I'm going to listen to all the CDs I have -- and just not buy any more for the rest of the year.
Recently, I got Alana Davis' second album and was blown away by a track on there, "I Don't Care (Lonesome Road)." This track is just so tender and beautiful. I visualize things when I listen to music, and I totally see rose petals in this one. You just wanna Alana and tell her she really will get over dude. "It's gon' be all right, Alana!!!" But, gosh, This song's in heavy rotation with me (my poor neighbors). (Lyrics reprinted WITHOUT permission.) Soul (sold) driving down this lonesome road Somewhere...somewhere someone's waiting You're leaving with a part of me Stolen...stolen time that once was mine Precious words we left unheard Desert me and deceive me but I don't care I don't care anymore You love me then you leave me but I don't care I don't care anymore Heart (hard) stepping through the door alone Somewhere...somewhere someone's longing Smiled, someone at the red light smiled Saved me...saved me from my inner strife Baby he just saved my life Gotta love that woman's voice, writing and artistry. More, please.

Hey ThreadBare! Glad to see you joining the club and getting in on the beauty that is Alana. I loveeeee "I Don't Care (Lonesome Road)"! I remember one time I cried when I heard that song. It resonated with me really deeply. I felt like I was the one driving down that "lonesome road." I sang that song for an acapella group audition... and got called back! The harmony, lyrics and melody are so on point.
I bought "Fortune Cookies" back in early 2002 and I immediately fell in love with the album via "Easy To Love" and learned to appreciate every track as distinct gems. Cookies is the album that made me an Alana fan. It's like going on a journey when I pop it in the CD player. From "Save The Day" to "Easy To Love," straight bliss. It's one of those albums you want to spend money on and support and tell all your friends about. I then went out and got her debut and fell in love with that, too. Do you have that disc?

Yup, I have her debut disc and am trying to get my hands on the "Carry On" single she did for a commercial a few years ago. Really like her singing on that one, too. I've dug Alana since I first heard her version of "32 Flavors." Her singing seemed like it improved between those 2 discs. I dig her a lot.

My pleasure, Anemone. I find it to be one of the prettiest songs I've heard in a very long time. It reminds me of romanticism, for some reason. Maybe because I visualize rose petals and flowing, wind-blown curtains when I hear it.
