80s Pop Track Of The Day(3/01/04)...Tina Turner-Better Be Good To Me(1984)

"What's Love Got To Do With It" will get the credit for being Tina's comeback song, but this is HER TRUE COMEBACK hit. This song sounded so good on the radio back in 1984 and it still hits hard 20 years later.

Tina means business and it comes across in her fiery vocal delivery. But also what makes this song tight is the overall sound producer Rupert Hines gives this track. Hines is the great producer who produced and arranged The Fixx great records in the 80's. And this song surely has that "Fixx" sound to it. I think some of the members from that group plays on this record and appears in the video.

It takes a vocalist with attitude galore to deliver a hard driving song like this and Tina had plenty of that and then some.

Great stuff!!!!

and I really do wanna believe
but did you think I'd accept you
in blind faith? Oh sure,baby

but you'd better be good to me

I LOVE this record. (Was it written with Ike in mind? confused ) I especially like that part [in bold] of the 2nd verse. I think one of the first--if not THE first--song I learned by heart was "Proud Mary." smile

Tina is the Queen.

So uh, when is Jessica Simpson or Britney Spears or Clay Aiken going to cover this?

You know something UptownDeb I often think that very thing.....That she had Ike on her mind when recording this track

your lack of devotion..should I should I"

When you give it a thought, most of her SOLO stuff are written with Ike in mind(I Should've been Queen is another testimony about he life and many more).

Miss Anna Mae Bullock is a B-L-A-S-T, I'll neva 4get how she had me crying over her rendition of Otis Redding's "I Was Loving You For Too Long",,,,lawd, I've yet to hear such rawness and power(The ending of the song where she imitates Ike is just whew!).

My ABSLOUTE fave song from her is the devillish funky raunchy rocky # "Tina's Wish"(formerly titled as Tina's Prayer). She sang that shit like there's no tomorro!

Its funny that u posted this Bro915, I just saw her "Private Dancer" video this afternoon when I came from work.
