Jay Z & The Beatles - The Grey Album. ****1/2

Wow, what an album. Sometimes these beats make the originals sound like shit. Especially the weakest tracks on the "Black Album " (Dirt Off Your Shoulder, Allure, Moment Of Clarity) even shine on this backed by gritty beats and acoustic - rock Beatles samples.

The album's only flaw is it left out a song "Threats" (one of my fav's on the album) and some of the beats on the original sounds better. But still in light, this remix album sheds new light and kinda really returns jay-Z's last album in2 the "Reasonable Doubt" album.

Thanx 2 the orger who posted the link 4 me 2 dl all the songs! And the artwork was cool!

I actually didn't like it at first either, but that hard-ass snare that sounds like a gunshot got me hooked! headbang Just try giving it a few more listens.

That line is hot, but 2 me a hot line dont make a hot song, unless the whole thing is full of hot lines, the beat have 2 be tight 2. Eminem did a better job on "Renegade" from Blueprint, even busted out Jay's rap. Although Eminem cant rap no mo.

Check the lyrics out at ohhla, then let me know what you think. What's this about em can't rhyme, last Em track, Lose Yourself, was a classic. When you talk down on artist with talent you lose your credibility.

oh i got all Eminems al ums, but just because "lose Yourself" was a good song doesnt make his newer stuff (that i have been hearing on hip hop website that has at least 5 6 of his new stuff out, it is boring and he just sounds like he is unmotivated and has nothing to talk about anymore.

U are listening to boots son, I haven't heard them, they haven't been released so they aren
t even worth mentioning. I don't know how many times someone told me that they had the new Jay Z cd, and turned out none of the songs are on the album. So you are being a little premature of your assessement of his future works. Just judging on what is out on wax, and his last official release Lose Yourself, the boy is on fire. Lyrically, hands down one of the best doing it.

Um, I listened to this... I don't know if it was how it was ripped, but all of the vocals are distorted and alot of the beats are a damn mess. And I love crazy sampling programming. Still, disappointing!

nah, but u gotta look at it 2, even "The Eminem Show" is his weakest album to date. It stand just the same with "Infinite" (which was aiight i finally listened 2 it this weekend), and even his old bootlets used 2 be killer.

Now that he is a producer, i hope that played out style that he keeps on producing with the dark beats and orchestrated keyboard gets lifted. U cant just base "Lose Yourself" on what's on wax. They released "Superman" after that which is also a tight song, but in all, the album still had lots of filler, and he just wasnt sayin nothing interesting (Drips, Say Goodbye 2 Hollywood, etc.).

I dont know, What made him come 2gether the FIRST time around was that the album was angry and bitter and full of truths, plus it was full of storytelling, and the singles still didnt touch what was on the rest of the Slim Shady LP.

Marshall Mathers LP, another classic. It was shocking, bitter, gritty, and funny.

Eminem Show...uuuuuh. He tried from time 2 time, hit and miss on that one.

8 Mile. The Eminem trax were aiight. Lose Yourself is not really a song I'd fimnd myself playing. Truthfully i only played it one time cuz it was always on the gotdamn radio.

I mean what else can he say? He should go back 2 storytelling.

The vocals were a little bit loud. But I liked how it was gritty and hard. It was a return 2 the ol days of record scratchin.

only people who have changed the game and are lyrically in shape.

Common, Eminem, Outkast, Jay Z, Lil Kim.. I wish i had more Nas albums or else he wouldve been added 2 the list. Oh and I cant 4get LL Cool J. Oh yeah, and Missy. Although most of the time she talk shit, she changed alot of stuff and is totally differnt type of female rapper, and I respect her for always coming off strong on the albums. Concepts and stuff.
